Since this our first ever cruise, any tips for us? I know how to plan/prepare for WDW, but no clue about the cruise Thanks!

What do ya'll think? It is the one that you suggested Toria with a few changes.

We have never been to Alaska before. We were suppose to go 3 years ago but my doctor wouldn't let me go as I had an intestinal hernia as a complication following another surgery. This is the trip to make up for it. My daughter has always been bummed that we missed the trip three years ago.

DVC is one of the best decision we have ever made. Our membership has allowed us to experience the world in ways we never thought possible. We have gotten to cruise the Med, will go to Germany in 2014 and of course are going to Alaska in 2013. That is the top of the iceburg. We of course have always enjoyed out Walt Disney World visits. If you would like for me to tell you more about DVC I would be willing to have you call me. Just let me know.

I look forward to meeting both of you. Thanks for your excitement about out trips. We can hardly wait!

I think that is perfect for your shirts! I am actually good on the DVC, however I just had to convince DH. I attended a presentation on board. I lived in Germany for 5 months and that is another place that is beautiful. The older buildings especially are so pretty.

We will be on this cruise too, it will be our first cruise! It will be my DH, DS age 13, DS age 6, MIL, & myself. We are DVC members as well, & will be going to BLT after the cruise. We have been planning Fish Extender gifts, is anyone planning to participate in this? It sounds like fun!

Since this our first ever cruise, any tips for us? I know how to plan/prepare for WDW, but no clue about the cruise Thanks!

Tip 1- use your navigator to plan your day. There are many different activities and it can be overwhelming.

Tip 2- bring ones to tip the porter and room service.

Tip 3- wear your swimsuits under your clothes when boarding. Our kids had the pool to themselves with 2 other kids for about an hour on our last cruise.

Some additional tips. Toria, hit the nail on the head with hers.

1. If you have the earlier dinner, order room service, if you get hungry later in the night. We usually do the late dinner, but this time we are going for the earlier dinner. I just hope we don't regret it. I'm not sure if I will be hungry. We did an early dinner for one night on our 2nd cruise, immediately changed that, but ordering room service helped alot. Of course that was pre-2nd child. Lol

2. Don't try to do everything. You will never be able to sit and enjoy yourself.

3. Tidbit I learned from my last cruise: in the hall there are stars in the carpet on the Dream. The tip of the star is the Forward of the ship, and the rest is the AFT. That really helped because we did get lost a bit. Lol. I knew we were AFT and so many times we were going the wrong way. Lol.

4. There are newer movies on the TV on On Demand. This may not mean much, but if you happen to have a minute to take a nap etc.. Watching something comes in handy.

5. See at least one show and one movie. Lol

6. When riding the AquaDuck, please note that there is a dip where the water completely drenches your hair (or at least did mine). Lol. I made the mistake of doing it on the first night. No good for me and my hair. Lol. I have a friend that forgot to tell me and needless to say. She owes me one. . Oh I can't swim either. Lol

Thank you so much for the Congrats on the Moms Panel! I can say to keep applying because I did every year since the start and finally got my chance. I'm loving it!

We discovered doing Fish Extender gifts while looking through DIS Boards. You join a FE group, then the families participating hang a FE on their door on the cruise (I ordered one from ETSY). During the cruise, people who joined the FE group leave small gifts in the FE of the others in the group. I have been looking at Fish Extender gift ideas on DIS & on Pintrest - there are so many great ideas out there! We thought it would be fun for the boys to leave & receive surprises!

I did manage to get to round 3 with the video and flopped last year, but that was it out of those years.

I am looking at the FE items. I really like the concept!! I'm guessing you need a holder? On Pinterest, I saw some really nice items and pinned them to my secret board, since we are surprising the kids. Is there an easier way to make or get a cheap and cute holder? Lol

Cast Members have informed me that we may be the first. We are staying at Bay Lake Towers for 1 night, the Poly for 3 nights, cruising to Alaska and then cruising to the Bahamas It is in fact 2 Land/Sea Cruise from Coast to Coast. We are probably going to make up shirts that say something to that effect. We are so excited! We are going to experience the classic and new ships within 1 week of the other. It will be interesting to see the differences. We look forward to meeting both of your families. It would be great if we could have a meet. It may just be three families but you both are so sweet!

I stayed up and tried to book a family cabana since we're Silver level, but none were available even right at midnight exactly.

I was able to get on earlier because we are Gold and those family cabanas were all sold out except for two serenity bay adult ones. Smh.

Welcome to the thread!
No cabana for us. I am a tight wad and won't spend that amount on a cabana.
However a great spa treatment will make me splurge.

Please give your cabin number, Age and gender of kids in cabin, your moniker here on the boards and any allergies. I will make a spread sheet and send it out.
If you do not have a cabin yet, just put GTY for cabin#. I will start with my info:

Let's start a tip of the day or perhaps week. This will be good info for the 1 time cruisers and us seasoned ones as well.

My tip is: if you park at the port you should park on level 3. The line is so much shorter through security.
