Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Hello Fellow Cruisers!!!

It's a hot one here in WV too! It was 100 when I left to get Colton from band at 445 last night. By the time he got in the truck, the storm rolled in, by the time we pulled back in the drive, it was 74....ahhhhhh!!! A really wicked storm rolled through here this afternoon. I took a photo of the wall cloud and sent it in to the local news channel...wsaz.com. they are using it on the home page! Whooo! I am a published photographer! LOL It says under the photo....e-reporter/Michele Cunningham. How cool, huh???

Been crazy with band! Been taking popcicles at 10am to help keep cool and sugar levels up and then taking desserts at Noon! This week someone else did Monday since we were out of town over the weekend, I took Tim Horton doughnuts on Tuesday, Ice Cream social again on Wednesday and today was brownies. Tomorrow they will get left over brownies and a cookie in thier box lunch donated by Sheetz.

My SIL Michelle, is looking at hotels at the port! I wonder, how early can we book? Or have people booked already?? With such a big group of cruisers, I hope the hotels can take us all in! LOL

Time to think about dinner.....it looks like the skies are clear again, so Pork Chops on the grill and cheesy potatoes!

Have a great night!

Just had a wicked storm roll thru here in Roanoke about 2 hours ago. And yes, cooler.
As for booking hotels in Port Canaveral, we booked ours at the Residence Inn about a month ago. If you know the dates make the ressies, better to get it done early then to wait and hope there is something available.

We decided to stay at the Hyatt in the Airport since we are flying in the day before the cruise and taking Disney transportation from the airport. I have already booked my room, but do not have my flights booked yet because Southwest is only taking reservations through the beginning of January, 2011. I am anxious to get my flights booked as soon as they are available.

I am in Southeastern Louisiana and we have been setting records around New Orleans and north of New Orleans where I live. Last night and this morning we had some storms roll through but it still got up into the high 90s today.

:yay:Finally went this morning and applied for our passports! I missed getting them before the price increase but was so busy with work, vacation, summer camp, etc. that was not able to take the time to do it before now. But it sure is a good feeling knowing that it is taken care of. Now I just have to wait to receive them (was told it would take 4-6 weeks). But, of course, that's plenty of time before our cruise. Hopefully the 310 days will go by fast!

With 308 days to go, it will not go by fast enough. Today we are helping DS 17 work on his Eagle Project for Scouts. Got to go cut a bunch of lumber, he is building and outside nature and science area for the elementary school that he attended. It looks like it will be cooler here today, only getting to 90, I hope everyone else gets a break from the heat. We need it.

Hello Fellow Cruisers!!

the temps have come down some, much nicer! but it won't last too long. It's going to climb back up this week...just in time for away band camp and football to start! Went this morning to the field house and helped clean. It was REALLY gross, I mean REALLY, REALLY gross. I helped clean in the bathroom. even took the seats off the toilet to get all the funk. ewwwww is all I can say, and thank goodness I had gloves!

going to get the grocery shopping done today and tomorrow we'll start laying out Colton's things for band camp and figureing out how to pack all that up.

Did you see the post about the Magic picking up the 18 Algerians from the sea? Pretty cool!!

time to make my shopping list, gather my coupons and think about dinner!
Have a great day!!
Michele

I'm still deciding on whether to stay the night before at the port, do the cruise and come back home or to stay at Disney a night before or after the cruise ( or both) and do a park or 2. And it depends on $$$ I may or may not get OT at work during the winter season.
I'm afraid to bet that I'll get it and can afford to do more and so charge it, but then if it doesn't happen I still need to pay for all that too,
BUT.....
if I wait too long then I may not get a good deal:confused3

Well, got my daughter off to school this morning.:teacher: This will be her last year. As I have posted previously, this cruise will be a celebration of her Graduation. I originally planned on ordering the Celebration package that has a banner that says "Congratulations", a cake, etc. but at this time Disney is not offering the one that says "Congratulations": only "Bon Voyage" and "Happy Birthday", so I'm not sure what I will do. I really wanted to surprise her with the banner, etc. in our stateroom when we arrive. I guess I will keep checking online to see if they add it again. I plan on printing out some magnets to place on our stateroom door in celebration.

Hope everyone has a magical day!!!:wizard:

Has anyone done the Adastra Gardens excursion in Nassau? Was just wondering if it is worth the time. I'm trying to decide if we will book this excursion or just stay on the ship. Thanks in advance for your opinions!

How about something from The Perfect Gift? I know the owner's name is Shirley, and while I've never used her, I have only heard rave reviews. She can supposedly make up a basket to your specifications and I'm pretty sure it is in the cabin when you arrive. She might be able to arrange a banner, too, or at least some congratulatory message on the basket. I don't have her phone # but if you post on the main board asking about contact info for Shirley, I'm sure you'll get someone who can provide it.

BTW, congratulations on your DD's accomplishment!

Yes, I second that. Haven't used her myself but know many who have!

I used Shirley for a basket for Marci's b'day on her cruise (marcij). They did a great job! I would totally recommend her.

Today I started a Latin Camp for incoming students new to our school, it will meet the rest of this week the pre-planning starts next week for another year!

Thank you. I have read about Shirley and her company The Perfect Gift, so I may just give her a call. I'm sure I can find her phone number somewhere. She and her company seem very popular, and I have only read good things about her. Thanks again to all of you for your help.

Hello everybody!

We will be joining you on the Dream.
We'll be in cabins 7650 and 7652. There are four of us: Principessa (me - Irene), DH (Charles), DS14 (Kevin) and MIL92 (Oscelletta).

I've read about four pages in this thread, trying to meet you all...only 64 more pages to go :)

I am really excited about this second cruise. I want to participate in the FE as well...has that been all decided already?

It makes going back to school so much easier when we know there's a cruise on the other end! I teach college French and Italian and DS will be in 9th grade. He's got soccer team tryouts next week and then we all start back.

Looking forward to getting to know you all! :cheer2:

We used Shirley for our first cruise. We ordered DD the large basket. It cost about $75, but was filled with sand toys, snacks, and other goodies. It was very cute!

Welcome!! Will get you added. About the FE, we haven't really firmed the details up yet, but I'm sure we'll be doing that soon since we are getting closer and closer. :goodvibes

We have our reservation in hand and are very excited about cruising with Disney June 12. This will be our second cruise, first with DCL. I (Becky) and DH (Todd) will be traveling with our 2 DS, David (11) and Ryan (8). We will be in room 9546. I'm coming over from cruise critics as this is where the action seems to be! :cool1:

I'm trying to get in all of the planning and dreaming done now. I'm a teacher and here in Texas, we start next week. I won't be doing much of anything for a while. :teacher: My current goal is to read as many of these posts as I can! :surfweb:
