I just returned from a 4 night cruise to the Bahamas on the Disney Dream, visiting Nassau & Castaway Cay. The ship is beautiful, the cruise staff is super friendly and the food & shows outstanding. The one thing that I really liked is the dining room rotation - same table numbers and wait staff, but different dining rooms each evening. The one thing that made no sense to me - the cabin lights. It wasn't so bad in the day, but when I got up in the middle of the night, all the lights in the cabin went on just to have the light in the restroom work!

We were on the same cruise as you and had a blast.
I know what you mean about the lights.... the "key" was to just leave your Key to the World card in the slot at all times while you are in the cabin. Then you just turn on/off the lights with the switches at night.

It took a couple of nights to figure out how to totally turn out the lights in the cabin. When I pressed on the switch, it would either dim or brighten but not go out completely. I'm one of those guys who likes the lights completely off when I sleep. Then I figured out that when I just touched and released, it would go out all the way.

BTW, I used my Borders Rewards card since they are going out of business, and just pulled it up half way when I left the cabin during the day.

That is good to know about the light switches. Thanks

We were on that sailing as well and had a wonderful time (even if my DD16 is on the tail end of dehydration recovery/heat exhaustion... (long story and not a fun end to the vacation, but not enough to spoil the magic!)

I feel that all the new perks in technology (room lights and wave phones) could have been addressed more clearly, either in the state room or on the tv info.

Agree with that they could have explained things better, but I gotta admit that the Wave phones worked great and were super useful! My parents who are in their 70s were able to figure them out, but I can see how the phones could have been customized a little easier to call staterooms or other wave phones a little easier.

I hope your daughter is doing better! It was very hot in the Bahamas. I've never cruised in July, and was amazed at how hot it was in Nassau & Castaway Cay, but kept pushing fluids.

We were on the cruise right after you, August 2 - 7. We loved it as well.

I agree that the instructions on the Wave phones were not very good. Our #1 phone was somehow listed as "Mike", even though our DD Jennifer was the one using it. So, whenever she sent us a text, we would see it being sent from "Mike". We were never able to figure out who to change the name. :confused3
