Disney Dream Doesn't Have Solid Whitewall Verandahs?!?

Only 6A and 6B are listed as whitewalls.

We have stateroom 10660, a 6A.....it will be a nice surprise if the white wall is non-existent or at the very least a shortened version. In any case....we are SO excited!

What decks is that showing the railings on? I can't figure it out.

We're booked 2 aft 6B's (on deck 5, hence my question above) and we were told it's solid white wall by TA also. It would be a nice surprise to find that it wasn't really a very tall wall! We'll be okay either way though. We've often wondered if we'd like a navigator's verandah and completely aft with solid walls would be similar to that. But if it's not all solid wall- that would be great. I like to sit and look thru.

Meanwhile.. I'm not fond of the idea of each floor down sticking out further. I'm used to the deck above sticking out further (deck 6 and deck 8 we've been on) so if it's raining you don't get it all on your verandah unless the wind blows it in. It looks like on those verandahs they'll get flooded with every bit of rain- nothing overhead to keep that from happening.

They are decks 5-10… And I'm pretty sure that if they are sold whitewalls, they'd have a kind of a draining system for the rain water on the deck

If you look at the ships' model that's at the Meyer-Werft yard, and at the picture taken by someone who recently toured there, you can see where the metal verandahs are.

But, they've already made them with the rails and not solid metal walls… do you really think they're gonna weld some more solid metal slabs on the back just to cover the railings it has now to make it a solid whitewall?

Draining system or not... even with verandahs that have overhand above them- when they get wet they don't drain well. just saying.
(noticed part of that problem was the drains painted filling in half the holes with paint that dried that way though LOL)
But I didn't really mean they'd flood and not drain- I meant you'd get totally rained on even if it wasn't windy. LOL I meant flooded like on you.... but I can see how that wasn't really worded correctly and sounded like I thought it would collect in the verandah. LOL

I assume that also means zero shade on the verandah too. hmmm I'm less fond of this choice now. LOL

I see what you're saying BBB....when they were new, they probably did drain better, but now, on the Magic and the Wonder, they don't.

Yeah, well on that pic, you can KINDA see the railings… BARELY, but you can still see it, and they're not solid

but if the wall only comes up as high as the bottom of the portholes and the portholes are the same height from floor as on Magic.. I could sit in porthole room, on couch, and look out porthole from an angle. so I'd still be able to sit on verandah and see over?

I'll just have to hope for no rain in August. I'll be sad if it rains the entire time and can't step foot on verandah without getting a shower... while clothed. LOL But I won't be SUPER sad... because cat 8A's available were only $20 less per room. haha

I'm going to take a wild stab at it, and say that those earlier railings seen in the picture on the first post were for the safety of the people working onboard.
My question is whether or not they'll have the wood railing on top of the metal.

they prolly will.. but they might also have a plexiglass cover on it…

Sorry....I see what you're saying. Now that they're painted white, they just look different. I wish we could see underneath the plastic. I enlarged the picture, and I think I can just barely (maybe) see railings....
I apoligize!
But....what would it be.....waist level to a taller person...that it's still solid? I'm short, so if I'm in a chair back there, I won't be able to see the ocean. I'd have to stand, just like I do on the other ships. So technically, to me, that's a solid-wall verandah.
