Disney Dream August 7, 2011

Hey... I have an idea! :wizard: Let's help each other and get a "don't forget to pack list" going. I know everyone wont have the same "needs", but this could really help.

Here's my contribution: wine opener if you will carry-on wine
highlighters for navigators
sunscreen and SPF lip balm
bag for Castaway Cay
over the door hanger
laundry bag or pop up hamper
sunglasses, hats or visors
items that you want autographed
plastic tie to attach FE to fish
sea sick pills, IB, Tylenol, etc.

Who is going to be the pirate: today? We are getting close to the 600th post.

I always do a Mega List before I leave on trips too. One column for things to pack, one for things to do, and notes on things to buy... I'll probably start mine this wknd.

Is the bag from the Castaway Club gift suitable for bringing to the beach? That was what I was planning to use.

My contribution:

Passports
Print outs of important documents (online check in, plane tix, etc)
Prescription meds
Glasses/ extra contacts (if applicable)
Extra camera batteries/ memory cards
Cell phone charger
Any other electronic chargers

I wouldn't have thought of the plastic tie--thanks!

Hmm, how about:

The FE gifts
An extra collapsible bag in case you over buy on the souverniers
Pirate attire
Hair accessories (clips, straightener/curler...)
A cup holder (the disposable kind from McDonald's Drive through) to make it easier to send one person up to bring multiple sodas/coffees down to your cabin
Glowsticks
Mini dry erase board or post-its

My FEs are done and the labels are done--I just need to attach each label to the appropriate FE gift! Maybe I will do that today. : - ) I have cutesy matching outfits for us (Yep, we're those people, rotfl!) but DD's was a bit too big so I just finished altering it this morning!

Yep...I like the tie, that way I dont have to worry about it walking off. Dont forget to pack something to clip it after the cruise. I usually pack scissors and nail clippers...both work just fine. I love it that you have matching outfits!! The girls and I usually wear matching shirts, we probably will this time, too. I plan on putting my hair up a lot due to the heat and the wind at sea...so definately hair ties are needed. My hair always ends up a mess...I don't evevn know why I do it in the morning!

We are getting really close friends:woohoo:

Is anybody doing the champagne tasting? I think I am interested , maybe. The martini tasting was fun last time...we met some cool people who had a suite so we got to see it...NICE!!!

There is a champagne-tasting?! (Is it at the new champagne bar?) I'm so in. I will save you all seats. We did the wine tasting last time and had a blast. Actually, the most fun part of the wine tasting was walking into Up in 3D directly afterwards...5 glasses of wine + flying balloon house + theater full of children at lunchtime definitely brought a whole new dimension to that movie for me... :X

Let's add in a book (or your favorite eBook reader)
Men's jacket for those gentlemen going to Remy
Flip-flops, dressy shoes, and other varieties of shoes in between
Photo mat or pillowcases for characters to sign
Door magnets - did anyone say door magnets yet?
Hairdryer in case you're not a fan of the one in the room
Sunscreen and bug spray

HEY! LOOK! IT'S PIRATE TIME!!!
pirate:pirate:pirate:pirate:pirate:pirate:
Thx to all for the great suggestions!!

Today I was out buying my FEs.....finally!!! This trip is really coming up soon....woo hoo..........

Where is the pirate list??
pirate:

Doppler-we are on deck 10.
Heather -your dress is beautiful...you will look awesome.
Joann- I know it is sneaking up on us quicky!! Finally!! This will be so much fun!!
I have never been to CC during the summer months, so I dont know if bugs are a problem. I have been to CC during the spring and winter=no bugs. I hate having bug spray on me if not needed, but thanks for the suggestion-it is definately on my list now.

What are your port arrival times??? I think mine said 12-12:30...I need to look in my notebook. My flight lands at 9:35, then we have to get our bags, get a car, drive to the store to pick up wine and then drive to the port. I hope to be at the port at 12. My DH tends to not dilly dally when he is driving. This will be our first cruise where we wont be flying in a day or 2 before...I am nervous.
Our HS reunion is the night before...we graduated together..DH is "in-charge" of "stuff". I am excited about seeing my friends, BUT I think I would skip the reunion to get there earlier...too late now, plus DH didnt want to skip it.

I love the weeks right before a vacation...makes work a lot easier to tolerate!!HAHA!! Just 8 more days of work!!Then paaarrrtttaaayyy time!

We are on deck 8. I have one suitcase fully packed (which makes me a bit nervous since there are no clothes in it!). It's all cruise stuff...my FE gifts, the nips, sand toys, sunscreen... stuff I don't need between now and arrival! I was hoping to pack up our first day of cruise carry on/day bag in advance but I just don't think we have the suitcase capacity for that!

you are organized! I think I will start packing the misc. stuff today, too!

I was just snooping on another meets thread ahead of our cruise and I saw that they planned a meet after boarding (like ours) and an evening meet. What do ya all say to meeting around 10 0r 1030pm in the champagne bar? This way if things are chaotic after boarding we can meet later on in the evening. Also, should we have dis green ribbons on or something? I was thinking it would be easy enough for the ladies to tie a green ribbon on our lanyards or something like that? Mackie-did you say you have nametags?

Sounds like a great idea... but not sure I could personally commit to it because I really have no idea whether the kids will want to be around me or in the clubs.

I still need to work on finishing my FEs... But I have a bunch of door magnets ready, as well as a guidebook for the nieces (with our itinerary, basic info, ship deck plans, etc)

Speaking of FEs... does anyone (including kids) have food allergies? I may be planning something edible as a part of my FE and I'd hate to give someone something they couldn't enjoy...

We are doing the land/sea package so we don't have an arrival time--we just get there when Disney tells us to get there, I guess.

re: allergies...bananas :banana::banana:

A second nighttime meetup sounds a-OK to me! My only concern would be that the super-awesome grownup nighttime programming starts around 10:00. I'll look at the navigators and see if it might be better to do a grownup meetup later at night during of the activities instead...

...and yes I do have nametags! They're not neon green, unfortunately...but for lack of looking!

ETA: Match your Mate should begin at 10:30 that night. How does a meet up there sound?

That sounds like a good "second meet". I will have to drink a lot of caffeine to stay up late...since we will have to get about 4am!! Hopefully I will be on a Disney Dream high/hype.

No allergies in this Fam...thank goodness!!

We thought about it and we will film the entire cruise and post it on YouTube I think we will make the account call the Disney experience or something

Hello everyone from steamy HOTTTT Chicago!!! We are getting a taste of that much loved Florida July weather here this week! Everyone has been complaining and we are loving it!!!

We have just finished our FE gifts for both sailings!! Now I think we need another suitcase(good thing we are flying Southwest and the first 2 bags per person are free)! Didn't realize the amount of space they will take up! We leave in 9 days for WDW, I can't wait!! Single digit countdown, finally!

We weren't assigned a check in time because we are platinum, it says arrive whenever and board whenever. so I'm guessing we will get there early, just so we can avoid some of the crowds later! My husband likes to board in the 1st or 2nd boarding group.

Kids are already talking about the clubs and what they want to do, and how they hope to meet lots of new friends. After each sailing they walk away with a few new friends each that they still keep in contact with through email/facebook. They love it!

Saturday, July 30th morning can't get here soon enough! I want some Zebra Domes!!! That will be my first stop after checking in, The Mara for some!

OOOO WEEEEE it is toasty here, too! 108 degrees/ heat index. We stayed at the pool for a little over 2 hours today, then felt drained and went home. I realized how important it will be to keep reapplying sunscreen on the cruise. I am good about applying the first time, then forget to reapply. Watching the news it looks like most of the USA is having a heat wave. We can stay cool on the ship and islands...drinks, drinks and more drinks. We may have to drink water in between our beer, DOTD, wine, etc.

I can't believe we are this close...yay for us!!:yay
I just sent an email to my TA confirming a few items...requested a single table(just for us 4). The one time we had tablemates we had an akward time-they were snooty. Also, I made sure she got our dining rotation request called in.

I haven't been able to get on the boards lately, keeping up via email isn't as fun. Can't wait for the cruise. It's been four years since my last DCL cruise. Packing list is done for now, I'm sure there will be changes before I actually start packing.

One item to bring if you have adjoining cabins is a large door stop. The little ones are not strong enough to hold open the doors. Also, if you are pin collector/trader, don't forget pins. I can't wait to get a pin from the Dream to add to my collection.

My kids are really excited about the cruise, my DD is 8 and my DS is 6. They are planning who is riding with AquaDuck with them for their first time. LOL.

I love that there are lots of teachers. As my mom VillagesBarbara said, my sister and I are both teachers. I teach 7th grade science in Southeastern PA (Ridley for any PA locals). What a great break from reality before the school year starts.

Can't wait to meet everyone in person!:cool1:

A big banana dance for me cause I just about finished the main portion of my FE. Err, thank goodness we're taking SouthWest because I may need an extra suitcase just to carry FE stuff (even though I thought I wasn't giving anything large...)

Can't wait to see everyone real soon!

p.s. it is HOT here too! Hope this crazy heat wave calms down a bit...

I only live a hour and a half driving from the port

FE are finally finished!! :thumbsup2 We would be up for the second meet up also. The kids are excited that they can stay up until 1am at the Edge(we will see if that happens)! Oh so looking forward to this trip!

I'll add our second meetup to the site in case people need a reminder that way - we won't know for sure the time ulntil we see our navigators, but Match Your Mate at that time on the first night is always a safe bet :) We're visiting friends now after spending a few great days with Rob (artifex) who had a wedding to attend here in Philly this weekend. 8 days!!

Saw my nieces tonight- they are definitely getting excited! :)
