My husband and I are experienced travelers on cruises, however this year will be our first time cruising ith our twin daughters! Just wanted to know if anyone has any advice for cruising with toddlers on Disney! We can't wait to take them on The Dream in September!

Did anyone else's first thought include "drink lots"?

For something more helpful to add, I would highly encourage you to sign the children up for the children's programming as soon as your options date opens up? Also, check with either the Port Adventures desk or Guest Services as soon as you embark the ship, for the large group character meet and greet tickets - I would think it would be easier to hit them all up at once with two excited little ones. Tickets are given out for select greets.

What age will they be on the cruise? There's a big difference between what's available for a 2yo vs a 3yo. That would be helpful to know before I can make suggestions... also, potty trained or not?

Just a few days shy of 16 months when we set sail. As of now they are not trained, but we are working towards that!

Gotcha. Well, my DDs first Dream experience was on the Dream at 18 months. We went with the early seating, b/c she usually eats between 5 and 6 at home. However, the long dinners usually meant myself or my husband was up and down from the table walking around with her at any given time past about 35-40 min. She LOVED Nemo's Reef (the splash area0, which is pretty much all that's open to untrained toddlers. But it didn't matter b/c she was in heaven in there. You do have to worry about bigger kids going in and running around a bit rambunctiously, but you can ask a pool guard to step in if it gets really out of hand (I usually only had to say something on the stingray slide).
If you're on the east coast, it will be difficult for your LOs to stay up for the shows if you have early seating, so my DD did not watch any shows that first trip. I'm on the fence about whether (in hindsight) I would have preferred just choosing the second seating and going to the first show, and then grabbing food at Cabana's or on deck. Still not sure. If your LOs are comfortable with sleeping wherever (mine was a poor sleeper, so we didn't bother), I know some people will take their kids to the nursery and enjoy dinner by themselves. I wanted to enjoy every moment as a family, so we skipped things my DD couldn't participate in.
At that age we didn't book any excursions, just enjoyed ourselves on board during Nassau. DD LOVED Castaway Cay. We brought a float from home, which really helped her to enjoy the water (the pop up kind, that fold like car sun shades). We also bought the sand toys.
She loved the meet n' greets, but most of the books we read to her at that age were Disney or Princess themed, so she knew the characters going in. She loved exploring the ship and sitting in the porthole-type windows in the halls. We went into the Kids Club open houses so she could play in Andy's room and color.
You'll find people that disagree, b/c they want to take advantage of their time on board, but we made it a point to try to stick to her schedule as much as possible in terms of eating and nap/sleep time. Sleep times were usually off by about 30-60 min, but we still made sure she napped every day. The first day was the most difficult b/c the room wasn't ready in time for her nap, so we had some serious crankiness for the last 30 min or so. For naps we alternated who got to wander around the ship while the other stayed in the room. We also had a verandah so that helped.
That's what I can think of for now, if you have specific questions, ask away, and if I remember anything else, I'll add it.
It was the best vacation for our family. TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES!!! Our DD was very verbal at a young age, so she talked about the trip a lot when we got home and asked to go to the "Nemo fountain" and "Mickey boat" for the months that followed. And she liked looking at pictures of herself from the trip. It was truly magical.

Ahhhhh! Our first Disney cruise was with two toddlers in diapers. My biggest advice, go with the flow! One of my sons had a meltdown in the cabin one night and I took him to the 4th floor outside to sooth him. The waves motion and noise helped a lot. I thought I looked like a crazy women in my PJ's with a screaming child bundled up. Just know, they are out of their environment so they may have a melt down.

Here are my two from when we went on our first disney cruise.

It's easy with twins. We have a set and each twin had twins. We sailed with one set just shy of 2 years old. We tried to keep their normal routine including naps and bedtime. We didn't put them into any of the clubs. Don't expect them to try new foods. Go with the flow and don't try to push too much into a day.

I think they have wagons you can borrow or rent on Castaway Cay (not sure of details)

The wagons were available first come first serve at Castaway. Do they not still have them?

Still Free on the island.

As for dealing with 16 month olds we did it with a single 15 month old. Take advantage of any open house in the nursery or with nursery age groups. Kids need toys and you can only bring so many with you on the ship due to packing. So it gives them a chance to blow of steam. Also if they do the open house they may have less anxiety if you want to put them in for babysitting.

I haven't gone with a toddler yet (only with my DH), but I have been doing a lot of reading and research to prepare for our first cruise with our toddler next month, and here's some of the stuff I came across (some of which has been said already).

-Most days they have a toddler time activity where they sing songs and play games. It is noted on the navigator.
-They have a similar activity some mornings called "Wake Up with Disney Junior."
-On Pirates Day, there is a Disney Junior Pirates and Princesses Dance Party earlier in the day.
-Make use of nursery and kids clubs during open houses and Nemo's Splash Zone whenever.
-Restaurants will help to accommodate picky eaters or let kids get something off the adult menu.
-They have beach strollers on Castaway Cay--first come, first serve. Wagons too I believe.
-You can request pack and plays or bed rails.
-Other activities we plan to do with our toddler: movie, meet characters (don't forget to get tickets for ticketed meet and greets), mini-golf, mid-ship detective agency, etc.

Also, not sure if you have traveled elsewhere with them yet, but I pack outlet covers for outlets, more diapers and wipes than I think I will need (they price gouge you!), and medicines like Tylenol/ibuprofen (just in case).

I love everything everyone else said...toddler time, wake up with disney junior, craft time (we made buttons), character meets, dance parties (some with characters) in atrium, open house in kids clubs. our daughter was 15 months and 26 months on our cruises. splash zone is great but there are definitely big kids running around and pushing all the littles so I felt like I was constantly having to holler at kids ("please don't shoot my baby in the face with that water spout") and calling over the lifeguard. we put her in the nursery for nap time every at sea day...so nice to go to palo, trivia, a movie, etc just the two of us.

So cruising with toddlers can be overwhelming. Especially embark day. Take it slow, don't worry about catching everything that day. Do get the princess tickets and frozen meet and greet tickets first thing. They run out fast!
Take advantage of the nursery if you need to, it's a great options if the twins can't make it through dinner or the shows.
Also for play areas, nemos reef for water play, open house in the youth clubs. But the best is the toddler play area in outlook. The hours vary per day but you will get a nursery flyer with the times. There are climbing blocks and toys for the family to enjoy together.
