Hi -
We are traveling on the Disney Dream for the first time on April 5th. It is a 5 night cruise over Easter (Thurs-Tues), CC double dip, day 4 (Easter Sunday) in Nassau.

From what I can tell, Pirate night will be Sunday, our day at Nassau. I was wondering what dress for dinner is like the other nights? If I understand correctly, there is no formal night on a 5 nighter? Is there a semi-formal night? Or what level of "dress-up" should we expect.

I am starting to think about what types of clothes we need to take for evenings onboard. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!

I am interested in this also. We are first time cruisers on the March 4th 5 night and my daughters are 10 and 8 and want to wear their "fancy" dresses to dinner on the ship. I assumed there would be a formal night?!

Did a 5-night Dream cruise last summer.... The attire was 3 nights - cruise casual; 1 night - Pirate; and 1 night - semi-formal.

It has been our experience that you will encounter a wide range of how people interpret cruise casual and an ever wider range of what folks consider semi-formal! :rotfl: There are plenty of threads here where this is debated. For us - we followed the "dress code" - no jeans, sneakers, t-shirts, etc at dinner. On semi-formal night we had jackets and ties (even for my boys) and DW wore a nice dress. On the other hand, our tablemates wore t-shirts, shorts, jeans, & sneakers every night including semi-formal night (they were the exception from what I recall seeing though).

I was just noticing that we are on the New Years cruise and New Years Eve is Pirate Night, We have done this cruise before on the Magic and that was our formal night which was wonderful, I'm not too sure about dressing up for Pirate Night for New Years! Does anyone know anything different?

We did a 5 night last May, and if I recall correctly, I read that the double dips are typically more casual because of the number of beach days. I believe we were cruise casual 3 nights, pirate night, and instead of formal or semi-formal, we had an optional "dress up" night.

Happy sailing!

Thanks for the replies! Based on the threads I have read through searches, it seems varied ... maybe like the Dream cruise  There are so many different itineraries for the Dreams. I believe mine is labeled the Dream 5-night Itinerary E. They are basically hitting the same ports (although some have double dips and the ports are in many different orders).

We like to dress-up. But if there is not really a formal night, we might save on packing. The difference being bigger for DH and DS than myself. Where if for them a dress shirt and tie is all they need and we don't need to pack 2 suit coats, that makes a big difference. I had thought we might bring dress clothes for Easter Sunday dinner, but as it ends up that's Pirate night pirate:

Thanks again!

Hi Kim
Just noticed your dates! You get off then we get on! How exciting it's getting close.

We did a 5 night Dream cruise last June and it was much more casual than our 7 day Magic cruise we had taken.

Our first cruise I stressed so much over dinner attire. Our 5 day I really paid attention to what people were wearing and I have to say it was an all out mix. I don't think I saw anyone that looked inappropriate but most nights there were a lot of shorts(worn by all), jeans(worn by all), capris, sun dresses, khakis. Semi-formal night people were a dressed up a bit more. Wear what you feel comfortable wearing. If you like to dress up then do it. If you are more on the casual side that is fine too.

Have a great time. The Dream is just beautiful!

Is your cruise a double dip to CC? Hope so, it was so nice to have 2 days there.

The food is special, the dining rooms are beautiful and like nothing you've ever seen, and the waiters will be VERY well dressed and treat you royally. What a wonderful opportunity to dress for such a special place and make your dinners memorable.

If you look, you will see people wearing jeans and even shorts! Whatever, don't worry about them, you will see a lot of people who relish the chance to make it the special occasion it is, and you will be in good company. Choose things special if you wish, then relax and enjoy. You will be made comfortable by your waiters no matter what you choose, at either extreme (formal or casual), and will find that it is best to just not worry about the few who will seem out of place. Enjoy your fantastic meals and cruise!
