Disney Dream 12/29/2011

DAPFord - so sorry for your loss. I can understand what you are going through. We lost my mom this last year to cancer. This trip is my sister and I's way of saying we made it through a tough couple years. Hang tough and we'll have to get a drink together.

98 days until I leave home - oh man can't wait!!!

can we be added to the fish extender exchange...2 adults one teen (13)? ty very much :)

Just wanted to share some information for anyone who may be interested, and may not know.

We are driving from New York, down to Port Canaveral. Actually we are making a detour to Atlantic City for a day to do some DRAMBLING (Drinking and gambling). Then pit stop in North Carolina for a night, then reaching Port Canaveral the night before the cruise. So that we can just get up that morning and be right there.

Last year we stayed in Georgia the night before the cruise, and because of road construction . . traffic was at a stand still for 2 hours and we almost missed the cruise !!! We will never take that chance again.

We drive, because it is risky to fly out of New York in the winter months. One night of snow and we risk our entire vacation . . but I have an AWD Caddy SRX . . so driving through the storm is not an issue.

Anyway . . I got carried away . . here is what I wanted to share:

Port Canaveral Radisson Hotel (which is pretty new and looks fantastic in the photos) is right at Port Canaveral . . and it has a Park & Cruise Deal !! Book for at least one night, and you can leave your car for the entire time of the cruise for free. They have a free shuttle to and from the ship too.

Just make sure you pick the "Park & Cruise" rooms. They ran us about $139 for the night.

Anyone else driving down, and wondering where to park (other than the port) may find this of interest.

WHERE IS MY CHAMPAGNE!!! I wanna dance !!!

Just curious as i was on right on the hour and got my Palo Dinner resv. but showed as have no tea or brunch. I know this is a full cruise but find it hard to believe that all resv. are booked. Thanks will keep tring.

KuyaRomeo, what great information for those cruisers who drive to the port. I'll keep that in mind for my next venture. Have a safe trip. Maybe we'll run into one another on the ship. :goodvibes

LatinQT . . . I am sure you will see me out and about. we are very easy to spot. If all else fails, just look for the two drunk gay guys who can't sing at the Karaoke Bar!!!

General Question:

We have done many Disney cruises, and 3 previous NYE Disney cruises on the Wonder. However, we have never joined up, or even known about any "Fish Extender" events or other things. We simply have gone on the cruise, met some great people and had fun. But, I read a lot about people asking to join the Fish Extender . . . I understand that somewhere you hand out small gifts to each cabin or cruiser in the extender by putting it in the fish holder outside the door.

Can someone please expand? How many gifts are handed out per cabin? If we joined up, are we handing out 100 gifts? 200? lol . . I need to know because we plan on handing out Hundred dollar bills! lol . . (don't get your hopes up).

I am curious to know more about this . . and possibly become part of the fish club.

Haven't met a gay guy I haven't liked. I'll look you two up in the K. bar. I'll be the one with the gray hair. Yes, an old lady with a young heart. See you for sure.:goodvibes

K,

That is great information. I am leaving on the 23rd and I hope the weather cooperates. That gives me plenty of time to get down there by the 29th. It is just my son (11) and I. My grandson is not going. Didn't try to book any Adult meals since I am alone.

From everything I've heard, the Radisson is great. We've decided to stay at the Country Inn & Suites only because I'm frugal and got a $79 rate on Priceline. But I learned this: you can park there for just $30 for your cruise (if you stay a night). Because we're doing a B2B, I asked about parking for both cruises and was told, not to worry, that $30 is good for both cruises. So I'm even happier now!

Oh gosh that made me laugh!!! I Love it!!

We also have never met a gray haired lady we didn't love! Young heart or old . . just something wonderful about gray hair ladies!! hahah

See you on the ship!

Don't worry about the Adult meals . . we never book them. Although they can be a great experience, the rotating restaurants are also fantastic!! We simply can't justify spending more money on FOOD when wonderful FREE food is everywhere we go. Besides, we love meeting new people at the dinners. We have made new friends on each cruise this way.

Maybe you will get lucky and get stuck at a dining table with a bunch of fun gay guys or a happy gray haired lady!!!

. . . Is it Champagne Time yet?

for the adults we just gave one gift that both could enjoy..for the kids we find small items appropriate for that age. one item for each child. my son and I really got more joy out of trying to get the gifts into the F.E without getting caught...lol...there are alot of discussions on the fish extender gift ideas...have fun with it, we do! :)

Can we request to sit together? I am at the first seating though.

What time will you guys be at the K bar? Just curious if I'll still be up at that time.:goodvibes

I do believe rooms can make requests to sit together . . . and they will do their best to accommodate. We are at the late seating, as we prefer it due to all of the food . . . seems like you wake up and eat, then you blink and it's lunch and then you blink and dinner time.

We find that we best enjoy dinner at the later seating, after the theater show . . gives us time to get hungry again. Somewhat due to us being late risers hahah. Tough to start your day at 10:00 am and fit in breakfast, lunch and dinner all by 7pm.

LOL . . you BETTER stay up late!! You are on a NYE cruise, for Pete's Sake!

I have not yet checked out the itinerary . . however, on past sailings we have done the Karaoke at night . . after dinner. In the day, or early evening it is Family Karaoke . . and sure, we love kids . . but DAMN IT . I want to sing too lol !!!

No, we like to go to the late one . . relax . . have a few drinks and sing if we get brave.

But we wander around all day checking things out . . . sometimes it's just fun to sit and listen to the shows in the piano lounge areas, etc . .

And if nothing else . . you will find us partying on NYE . . with a glass of champagne in both hands . . full at all times :) I normally toast each and every person on the ship . . one at a time, on NYE! And if I can't think of their name . . I have to toast them again.

Where do they do karaoke?

I hope we get another Ducky lithograph on this cruise. Not like I don't have enough already. :rotfl:

cmclaura, How did you like country inn and suites? We have that booked for the night before. The parking and shuttle was the big draw. That and I could get a room that sleeps all 5 of us.

Other than hitting Ron Jon's we don't have much planned for the morning before the cruise. It will be hard to break the habit of showing up early at port.
