disney dollors, meal plan, gift cards what can you buy?

I am a bit confused as to what to use....
we got the 6 day dining plan my question is

1. Are they only good for restaurants now? I used to use them on food carts.
2. can these be used in all Disneyland and DCA restaurants?

Disney dollars....
1. what can you use these on?
2. are they good for down town Disney?
3, do you get change back from these disney dollars ?
4. can you buy bigger bills then 1.00

gift cards...... only good for some restaurants, and only some stores, not for carts?

So many choices !!

1. what can buy candy at pooh corner..... and the candy shops ?
2. what can be used to buy toys hats and clothing ?

I can't answer this question since we decided against using the dining plan last time, but I would assume that they can only be used in the DLR, not in DTD.

Maybe someone else can answer about the dining plan and more about the DD.

You can get change back, in real money, for disney dollars.
I distinctly remember the Lego store telling me I could use disney dollars there.

good resource for gift cards is www.disneygiftcards.com. (drop the S off cards if that doesn't work)

That's a really hard question to answer...I've seen, in one thread, "yes you can" and "no you can't", both from knowledgeable people.

But the thing with DDollars is that they are like cash, and to send them through the mail is akin to sending cash through the mail. Just not the best idea ever (says the woman who has DDollars on the way through the mail to her right now, from my "rewards" site, I didn't buy them). I believe you can buy them at a Disney Store if you have one around you, and I just learned you can buy them at City Hall when you get to DL, and shops sell them too.

and yes, most (if not all) locations at DTD accept disney dollars (but not the gift card). I personally checked with Anne Geddes, Catal, Lego Imagination Center and Build-a-bear Workshop the other day. All clearly said yes, they accept them.

The reason is, they can easily exchange disney dollars for cash from disney. the gift card requires credit processing changes which is why even WDW initially had problems getting it accepted everywhere it owns, but Disneyland has much larger issues with it.

It seemed like on our last trip we were able to use our gift card everywhere. I read through the terms and conditions you posted because I was concerned, I like to buy gift cards and take them with us so it doesn't feel like we are spending so much money. But I saw on there you can't use it at DL hotel. I know for a fact we used it to pay for dinner at Goofy's Kitchen and that is at the DLH... weird. maybe like many other things it depends on the cm you get.

hmm.. i initially actually thought it might not be able to be used towards paying off any hotel balances, because that was an issue at WDW when the gift card was first released, but I just called the DLH and after a strange call, I think I was told they do accept it. so maybe the page is just out of date

Currently, the Disney Gift card is not valid for payment towards tickets, room nights and packages purchased online. This enhancement is coming soon.

Oh.... in the terms/conditions it says "Not accepted at Disneyland® Resort Hotel nor the Downtown Disney® parking lots."

Our trip in May will be the first time we are using AP discounts...Does anyone know if all the dining locations will accept Disney Dollars in conjunction with the AP discount?

And I did not know that the carts accepted DisDollars!! I have always had my kids exchange them with me for cash to use at the carts!

I am 99.99% sure that using the dollars with your discount will be fine. The discount is a discount, and payment methods are the payment method. DDs can be changed back into cash easily, they ARE cash at Disney to all extents and purposes, so I just don't see any problems. I was able to pay with my giftcards and use the AP discount.

The only concern I have for you is carrying all those disney dollars around! Yikes, I can't imagine. It's why I love the giftcards, b/c you can get them replaced if you lose them (assuming receipt and card number were not lost along with the card). Not so the dollars.

Is this for the prepayment of packages? I was able to pay may DLH stay with my gift cards but I did a hotel only reservation & paid upon checkout.

I agree Molly. We take about 1/3 of what we've saved in Disney Dollars. DD prefers to spend those on her goodies. The remaining that we have saved are converted to gifts cards. We make one last trip to our local Disney store and convert it. Dis Dollars are just so much more fun to tuck away in presents (Easter eggs, stocking stuffers, etc..)

We didn't try the giftcards at check out because I had heard they didn't take them. But I know they had no problem with our Disney dollars
