Disney dollars

Hi, I have been to WDW 5 times but have never used disney dollars, and have some questions about it. Can u purchase Disney dollars at Canadian Disney stores? If so do they charge U.S. exchange on the Disney dollars?? PLus, what are the advantages to buying Disney dollars. I am planning to save for a solo trip in about a year if our cdn dollar stays or increases by then, plus i need to find a job first lol, and I thought buying the disney dollars is a good way to save cuz I can't spend it on anything else. lol TIA
