Can Disney Dollars be used on the ship? My friends and I are cruising in November and are giving the kids the Disney Dollars for birthdays, rewards, allowances, etc. I recently noticed on one of the Dollars that they can only be used at the parks or in the store. Is the cruise a totally cashless system? I'm assuming that even the kids get their own card. If this is true, can the Disney Dollars be put on their own card?

Thanks:tongue:

I used Disney Dollars to put towards our onboard account along with my accumulated Disney VISA dollars. The rest was charged to a credit card. You can also use cash.

I remember being in the gift shop on the ship last week...and someone tried to pay by cash and was told that they don't accept cash. Everything goes on your "card". NOt sure about Disney dollars. We made sure the girls' used up their Disney $ before we got on the cruise.

You can take the Disney Dollars to apply to your onboard account. You will not be able to present them directly for any purchase on board ship. Just be aware that the KTTW cards will not have limits for purchases. You will need to check with Guest Services periodically to check on how much is being spent on them. :)

Can I apply my Disney Visa rewards to my cruise account before I leave so I have a credit waiting for me? How is that done? That would be a great way to use my rewards!

So, our question was mostly answered (I think), but we now have more questions. :) (We're sailing with TYTY):

Each kid will have a card, yes?

Can money to be spent be put on that card with cash? I can't imagine essentially giving a kid a card with no limit, that's asking for trouble. Plus, as TYTY mentioned, we've been giving our kids Disney Dollars to spend on the cruise, so we'd like that to be put on the kids' cards.

Can each person's card be paid by different credit cards for adults? (my mother in law and sister will be sharing a room, but not a credit card)

Thanks!!

They don't separate out the cards in a room - in other words, if we let the kids have spending rights, then they had UNLIMITED spending rights. I wish they would allow that, it would be a neat way to help them learn about budgeting and responsibility.

Yes, each of the kids will have a card. The cards will be tied to YOUR credit card. Initially, all cards have charge ability. If you wish to cancel this, you go to guest services. They will punch a hole in the card, which means "no charging."

As for spending on the ship, yes, everything goes thru the card. However, there is no need for a child to be able to spend money when you are not around. There is no chance to spend money in the kid programs (other than the teens, where they can buy smoothies or sodas). You can take your child to the gift shop or wherever else they might choose to spend money.

You can take your Disney Dollars or your Disney Visa Rewards Card to guest services and have this money applied to your account at any time during the cruise. You cannot "spend" Disney Dollars or reward dollars in any other way on board--only by applying them to the account at guest services.

Yes, each person's card can be tied to a different credit card. However, if nothing else is specified, each card is tied to the master card for that stateroom. That means that at check in (or later at guest services), you need to make sure that each card is going to the correct credit card. It's easy and only takes a minute to do this. IF you do not cancel your kids' charging, it is unlimited and tilts to your credit card.

You can go to Guest Services at any time during the cruise and request a print out of your account. It is broken down by user, so you can determine how much each person is spending.
