Disney Dollars?

My children have asked Santa for Disney dollars for x-mas so that they will have their own money on the ship. Can anyone tell me how to get "Disney Dollars"? Thanks!

You can get them at the Disney Store!! I don't know about their website but I know the store has them. My kids have been saving up for a few months!!

You mean to tell me that those Disney dollars that you can obtain in WDW or at the Disney stores can be spent on this cruise line?

Since the ship is really "cash free", the only way to use Disney Dollars on the cruise is to take them to guest services and apply them to your room charge. It kind of takes the fun out of the disney dollars.

But if you're visiting WDW or Downtown Disney before the cruise, the Disney Dollars are good there.

I got my Disney Visa and charged EVERYTHING I could on it (gas, groceries, utilities, etc.). In September, I got a notice from BankOne that they were offering a Disney Dollar Debit card. You can transfer your Visa Disney Dollars to a debit card and use it at the Disney Store, in the parks and to pay your stateroom account on DCL. The best part is, when you earn more Disney Dollars you can apply those to you debit card by making a phone call -- sure beats waiting for the mail. The card is free for the asking, tho if you want it shipped quickly (2 business days) there is an express mail charge. I used our Disney Dollar Debit card in October in Magic Kingdom and learned that it was the first one that they had seen at Pooh's Thoughtful Shop. Felt like a pioneer!!!!

It comes directly from BankOne, the issuer of the Disney Visa card, so I assume that it is linked to that Visa card only.

They always ask me at the Disney store do you want that in ones, fives or tens.. so I would assume those are the denominations....... (I always buy tens)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the Visa Disney Card has Disney Reward Dollars.....that is not quite the same thing as Disney Dollars from the Disney Store.

Aren't Disney Reward Dollars for points that are earned by using your Disney Visa Card? I know you can build them up and then transfer them to a "card" but I just don't want people to think that it is the same thing as the Disney Dollars. The Disney Dollars from the DS come in ones, fives, tens and a different Disney character on the each demonination and feel like real money.

Both the Disney Reward Dollars and Disney Dollars can be used at the Disney Stores, parks, or toward your onboard account (cannot use them to pay directly in the onboard shops as every purchase is put on your KTTW card).

If this is incorrect, someone please advise....but this is the way I thought it was.

MJ, you are entirely correct in your assessment of Dream Dollars/Card connected to the Disney Visa Card and the Disney Dollars obtained in the parks and Disney stores.

For those who are thinking about the debit card. They have an expiration date stamped on the card. Make sure you only place the amount you will use on the card prior to the expiration date as the date of expiration is sooner than the expiration of the points on the Visa account. My Visa account points would expire in 2008 but once I put them on the card they expire in Dec. 2004.

The amounts the Disney Dollars come in is $1, $5, and $10. Nothing larger than a $10.
