Disney Dollars

I have an idea, but...... What are Disney Dollars? How do I get them? How can I use them? I never got them in all my trips to DL, so what am I missing?

Disnee dad Says............................They are basically fancy gift certificates. Made in the style of dollar bills, in various amounts, 1,5, 10 ,20 just like cash. And spends like cash at WDW. Faces of Mickey, Goofy etc are on the bills.

Does anyone know if Disney Dollars can be used to pay for all or a portion of your room at WDW? My parents asked me if they give us the Disney Dollars as a gift, if we would be able to use them towards our room. I have no idea if we can or not. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! TIA

yes...disney dollars can be used to purchase anything on disney property...just like cash so treat them as such...they cannot be replaced if you lose them...
in the months prior to our trips to the world, we hoard large amounts of disney dollars..

Yes, Disney Dollars can be used at Downtown Disney stores. They are treated just like cash on property.

We just picked up some Disney Dollars last week. Currently the characters on the bills are as follows:

$1 - (front) Classic Mickey "Steamboat Willie - 1928" (back) 100 Years of Magic logo

$5 - (front) Goofy (back) Cinderella Castle Walt Disney World

$10 - (front) Donald (back) Cinderella Castle Disneyland Resort, Paris

They do change them from time to time.

Currently it is Mickey on the $1, Goofy on the $5, and Donald on the $10 but they change them sometimes like for the 100 years celebration. You can get them ahead of time at the Disney Store. I try to get a few at a time and always ask for them for birthday presents before an upcoming trip!!

Don't plan on purchasing a lot of Disney Dollars at one time at the Disney Store. My mom had a hard time getting $200 a few weeks ago at her local store to give me to for my vacation. Apparently the stores don't carry much on any given day. She had wanted $250 but had to beg and plead to get the $200. Since the store is almost an hour away she didn't want to have to make another trip back and run the risk of not seeing me again before I left. Moral of the story - if you want lots of disney dollars, space out your trips to the disney store to get them.

I'm assuming that must have been an isolated incident because at our store we frequently sell $400 and $500 dollars worth. But it's always good idea to get them as far ahead as you can just in case!!

Or maybe higher volume stores get more disney dollars. When my mom spoke to the manager (they had to get him to okay giving out most of their disney dollars) he said they don't get too many at a time since most people only buy a few dollars worth.

Wow! Thanks for the info. I will definitely get some for our trip. We are meeting friends from overseas, and even though their DSs are 10, I think they will get a kick out Disney Dollars as a gift to spend (as well as my own DS & DD). However, I think I will call in advance & check on how much my local store has before I go in.

MCO has a disney store. You should be able to get some there.
