Disney Dollars

1.) Is there a charge to convert Disney Rewards Points to Disney Dollars? I think I remember someone on the DIS boards saying that I can convert them at my nearest Disney Store, but I wondered if there was a charge for doing this.
2.) Does every restaurant, vendor cart, and store in both Disney parks AND Downtown Disney accept Disney dollars? I know they don't all accept Rewards Points, so if I convert them to Disney Dollars, I'm good to go, right?

just last week I converted $100 in disney rewards dollars to disney dollars. There's no fee. You can do it at a Disney Store with no problems.

You can use your rewards card in either park where they take visa, ot at the World of Disney in DTD. The only draw back is that you can not use them at the vendor carts because they only take cash.

Disney dollars can be used everywhere in both parks and at the world of disney in down town disney.

So you're saying that I CAN'T use Disney Dollars (not rewards points, but actual Disney Dollars) at any of the restaurants in Downtown Disney (Ralph Brennan's, House of Blues, La Brea Bakery & Cafe, etc.)? I'm trying really hard to stay on a budget, and this issue matters quite a bit.

What about getting cash at the end with whatever disney dollars you have left can you do this too?

I read somewhere that you can go to a bank? on Main Street and cash them in. Not sure where, but that is what I read.

Disney Dollars can only be used at Disney owned/run places. . . I highly doubt you can use them at the places you have listed.

Wow. That's promising. Now, what about the other places in Downtown Disney? Maybe I'll give each of them a call later today to find out for certain. If I do, I'll let you guys know what I find out.

Please let us know because I was told the only place in DTD that took a rewards card or disney dollars was the World of Disney. I would love to be able to use our rewards card for other meals in DTD.

Okay, I just called Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen and La Brea Bakery & Cafe, both in Downtown Disney. The people I spoke with at the restaurants assured me that they DO, indeed, accept Disney Dollars as a form of payment for meals. They DO NOT accept the rewards card. Here's the explanation they gave me:

"The rewards card is linked electronically to a system that deducts points from your rewards card account. This is a Disney system that we non-Disney restaurants do not have access to, because we're not Disney restaurants. That's why we can't accept the rewards cards. However, we CAN accept Disney Dollars because they're not linked to an electronic system. Our restaurant simply takes the Disney Dollars from you and then gets reimbursed by Disney at a designated location. This is why we accept Disney Dollars but not the rewards cards."

So, the bottom line is that as long as we switch our rewards card points into Disney Dollars before going to those restaurants, we're in good shape! Note, though, that I only called those two restaurants in Downtown Disney, so I can only speak for Brennan's and La Brea.

Yay! Now we can dine for free!
