Disney Dollars vs. Disney Gift Card??

Does anyone know of the differences between having either a Disney Gift Card or using Disney Dollars?

Is there an expiration date with either?
Are one or the other more or less acceptable?
Can either be used at WDW & DTD?
How about online? I would think that a gift card could be used online (Disney Shopping), but not sure about Disney Dollars.

I have never used either, but in planning for a Spring 2011 trip, I have thought about getting a few of these as gifts for our kids for birthdays, Christmas, etc between now and then.

Any info you could share would be appreciated. Thank you, in advance!

Disney dollars are no longer being printed.....gift card is your only choice (unless you find a store with some leftover stock).

The one thing I hate about the gift cards is that there is no way to combine them. With 3 kids they each get giftcards from the family for holidays. I end up with 20+ giftcards when we go. At least with the disney dollars it was more like going with real money. The kids learned about spending better when they could see the value instead of having all these gift cards for $10 or $20. I asked at the Disney Store if I brought them in could then combine them together and was told no.

The problem with the gift cards is that you can't get them for less than $25.00. I wanted to purchase some for $10.00 to give as gifts and am unable to find them. I don't have a disney store near me to try and get the dollars, that is if they are even available and I'm not sure if you can get the gift cards for less than $25.00. Maybe you can. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. I would love to give them as gifts to some of our friends going to WDW soon.

Disney Dollars are still available at the Parks or through a phone order. If you order over the phone it is a $15 shipping charge. If you call your local Disney Store they should be able to give you the number, I don't remember it off hand.
Gift cards purchased in the Disney Stores can be loaded in any amount between $5 and $1500. They can also be reloaded.
