Disney dollars at downtown disney?

Hi,

Heading down to Disneyland for the first time on May 9th. Did the Disney credit card to get a nice Disney dollars gift card.

Wondering if you can use Disney Dollars in restaurants in Downtown Disney?

No, they are only valid at Disney-owned retail/restaurant establishments. All the restaurants in Downtown Disney are just leased spaces.

Disney dollars are treated differently than Disney gift cards. We have used Disney dollars at the Lego Store and the Build a Bear in DtD. We haven't done this recently though, and I still can't answer your question about restaurants. I do remember reading that as of 5 or 6 years ago at least, Disney dollars were considered an accepted currency at all DtD locations, even non-Disney ones since Disney would allow the businesses to cash them in. It was part of the contract for doing business in DtD. I have no idea if policy has changed. Disney gift cards can only be used at Disney-owned establishments.
