Disney dollars and restaurants

I was planning to bring a few hundred Disney dollars to pay for O'hanna's and chef Mickeys. I called Disney to make sure these restaurants would take disney dollars as payment. The CM said no, they do not except disney dollars at the resort restaurants.
Does anyone know if this is true? Many people I know think the CM is wrong.

It's my understanding that disney dollars work like cash on WDW property. I went down with a bunch of them after my high school graduation and used them with no problem. I believe I even used them in the resort restaurants.

My parents gave my husband and I disney dollars for our first anniversary. Instead of having to carry around the "cash" we had the cast member checking us in add it as a credit to our resort charge. I really liked that because then we only needed to carry around a small id wallet instead of something to hold bills. Of course this is only an option if you are staying in a Disney resort that you can do resort charging with.

We've used Disney dollars at both O'Hana and Chef Mickey's with no problems. Most recently this past March

I have used Disney dollars at all sorts of Disney resorts shops and restaurants...don't know what that CM was thinking!

Disney Dollars can be used anywhere on WDW property, as long as it's operated by Disney.

You can even use it to pay for your resort room.

The Disney outlet store in Belz also accepts them.
