I am starting to look at numbers for next October (08) and have a question. We went in 05 and got the free dining and LOVED it. I have priced out tentative pricing information for 08 (I know pricing will probably go up but I wanted an estimate cost) and want to include the DDP in our costs. Right now pricing it with 2A & 2C. We will be a party of 4 - me, DH, DS who will be 7, DD who will be 6 at time of travel. Can I pay the adult rate for the kids on the DDP? They eat pretty much everything and while I know my DD will probably be fine, my son has a big appetite and will want either more food or more options of types of food. I know we can buffet everything but there are specific place we would like to eat too. This isn't the case of me trying to order adult meals on a childs plan but me paying for an adult plan for a child so he can order off either menu and have it included???? I would want to (ideally) purchase 3A and 1C for the dining.

You can ask to have your children treated as over 9 years old, but then you'll have to purchase adult admission to the theme parks for them.

I rounded up my son who will be 9 1/2 to a 10 year old, but 7 could be a different story. I did have to pay for a 10 year old ticket, which was not that big of a price difference, really. I would ask when making the reservation, and see what the reservationist says you can do (Unless he looks 10). People tend not to like to hear about others not being completely honest with Disney on these boards, so you will have to ask Disney.

Check these numbers:
Child's Dining Plan 11.99/day.
Adult's Dining Plan 38.99/day.

Day 1:
Snack Child's credit acts like adults.
Child's counter service meal
Add 1 adult entree at 6.00
Add 1 adult desert at 3.00
Make total w/ taxes 10.00
Child's Table service meal
Add 1 adult entree at 20.00 + tax & tip about 25.00
Total: 46.99 pay an extra 8.00

Day 2:
Child's counter service meal
Add 1 adult entree 6.50
no extra desert
Ohana' family style meal no extra
Total: 18.49 save 20.50

Day 3:
Child's counter service neal
Add 1 adult desert 3.50
Child's Table Service Meal
Adult appetizer w/tax & tip 10.00
Adult desert w/tax & tip 8.00
Total 34.49 save 4.50

Average savings $5.66 a day getting the child's dining plan.

This doesn't include not having to pay extra for adult theme park tickets.

I agree that it is wrong on the trying to use a child credits for adult meals & such, thats why I'm asking if it is possible to pay the adult price for the dining plan for him. In this instance I am being very up front with everything and wanted to know if anyone with a "child" has paid for them on the dining plan as an adult. Basically like what you did but you treated him as a 10 year old across the board. My son just has a healthy appetite and likes all sorts of food so I want him to be able to have more than just a kids meal choice. He is tall for his age but not that tall that he would pass for a 10 year old. We will probably go with the dining plan and just pay OOP if we come upon a meal where he would want something different. Probably with sharing appetizers with him, sharing my meal at times, it won't be an issue but I was wondering if it could be done. I might ask them about it when I make our reservations though.

I wasn't questioning or judging you. I WAS thinking it was free dining, though. Sorry, there was a heated thread on this a few days ago. Guess, I did not get the last word, then. LOL! Yeah I guess I lied about my son's age and it is during free dining. But then he looks like, acts like, is taller than, and eats more than an average 10 year old. So where would 10 be the magic number on how much a child should she eat, only on your Disney reservation, I guess. They would think I was lying about his age if I said he was nine, so might as well go with it.

In that case, Mary174 's post might make you reconsider it. The evening meals do not look so bad and you will have appetizers for the adults. We never get more than one for the table for the 4 of us at regular restaurants. I do not know if their servings are smaller than average or not. I have not been since they started this dining plan. There is a good list of cs restaurants on this board.

You might want to start off with him being 10 if you really want to do the adult ticket and DDP when you book. Or just ask them when you book if it is possible. You will have to buy and adult ticket, but the difference was only about $34 for the week for me.
