I know nothing about it to be honest. I have already booked flight and hotel for our trip in 10 days, and have made one "restaurant" reservation. Has the ship sailed on finding out about a dining plan? I'm really fine either way, but figure I should at least know how it works...

here's the link...start reading, lol.

Couple of points: ONE...you have to book a room and ticket package through Disney to add the dining plan. You mention only a room, so the way you have it now you can't add any dining plan. If you don't already have tickets and you booked through Disney you could call and get it changed to a room & tickets package. Which brings up my next point. TWO...you have to book that package and add dining plan more than 72 hours before arrival, so you have less than a week left to make the change if you're going to be there in 10 days. and THREE, most important of all...you are going while Free Dining promotion folks will still be there, so before you make any more changes or spend a lot of money to buy a dining plan, you might go on line and see if you can get reservations at anywhere you'd like to eat. Some of the more popular restaurants were booked months ago.

I booked flight and hotel through Expedia. Tried to do it through the Disney site but it wouldn't let me as I'm in Canada. :(

sorry, then, it's a no-go for a dining plan. Can't get it at all through Expedia. You probably got a good discount on the room, though. :thumbsup2

still will need reservations to get into places to eat unless just going to do all counter service...:confused3 .or spend a lot of time waiting to eat. good luck on that:wizard:

Ok well I have one dinner down - still need some more, although I totally don't mind eating some of our meals at POP too....

How do I know what restaurant/s is good in each park?

Sorry, if you booked through Expedia you are not eligible for a dining plan.

The dining plan usually takes some planning, though, and at 10 days out it might be harder to fit in planning your restaurants.

There's the main restaurant board if you want to ask about the quality of restaurants, and the reviews board if you want to see others' restaurant reviews. You probably won't get a lot of good reviews on the dining plan board, because it's for discussing the dining plan and not the restaurants in general.

First off, congratulations on your trip. If you go online or call for dining reservations, you should be able to get some time at some of the lesser known, quieter restaurants. Just because they are not as popular does not mean they are not good. Some of my suggestions, Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club, Kona Cafe at the Polynesian (gorgeous resort), Biergarten or the restaurant in Morocco at Epcot, the Plaza Restaurant at the MK for great sandwiches, Earl of Sandwich (No ADR required), Tusker House for lunch or dinner at AK (must do for us), Olivia's at OKW. Hope this helps.

Ok thanks. I'll just look at the list of restaurants in all the parks and click on them to get info on them and try for reservations at any that seem like they'd be fun. And if I can't get in, so be it. Not worried at all - we don't usually book dinners ahead - we just fly by the seat of our pants and it works fine lol
