Disney Dining plans

Somewhere I thought I read that Disney is working on allowing people in the same group to purchase different dining plans. For instance, my sis-in-law always gets the Deluxe Plan and is telling my other sis-in-law it's such a better deal than the Basic Plan. So one sis-in-law wants to get the Deluxe Plan, she's the one paying for the trip for both families, but the other sis-in-law only wants the Basic. Can they get different plans for their families if the whole trip is booked under the one name? - they're DVC members so no package is being purchased. :confused3

Check the DVC boards for a few threads on this, but I do NOT think I heard what you are saying. It was more about being able to add the dining plans for part of your stay instead of all, but it was still that everyone in the room had to have the same plan for the same days.

But I would check over there on the DVC boards because there's been a few discussions of it just in the last day or so.

If they're in separate rooms, they should be able to get different plans. It may go down as two (linked) reservations, though.

If it's booked under one name it sounds like one reservation so no.

As far as changes being made on how the DDP works to customize it. I had seen a thread months ago where the OP announced that changes were coming by a certain date. The OP couldn't provide any proof that Disney said this, or even an article claiming disney said it. The date came and went and so did the thread which proved itself to be false.

Many of us have called member service to find out the details of the new plan. Unfortunately, we are getting inconsistent information.

Several of us were told that different packages may be purchased even if everyone is staying on the same reservation. So, for example, two people could be on the deluxe plan while four are on the regular plan even if they are staying in the same room.

Unfortunately, others were told that this was not the case. In particular, one DISer who was diligently researching this, spoke to management and was told that everyone in the room had to be on the same plan.

I suggest that you call member services next week when the new plans are in force and see what they say.
