Hello all....a little info if you can help us please....we are vacation club members that are now permitted to book the dining plan...we are 2 adults....in your opinion is it worth the 37.99 a day per person? We will be down and staying 4 nights in May.....we don't usually do the sit down meals....but would if it was worth it....anyone who has done it your opinion would be much appreciated....

Thanks....
Tom

Look at the menus (they inc prices) at www.allearsnet.com, see what you would eat, if it would make sense for you to share a TS or 2, leaving more credits for breakfast etc...

Then you decide, if its worth your $37 a day, or not :teacher:

I agree with Sweetness. Check out the menus and figure out what you would normally order, not necessarily what you would order with the plan. If you are an AP holder, you may want to compare your calculations with getting a Disney Dining Experience Card. It costs $50 for AP holders and gets you a 20% off discount at many of the TS locations and also gives you a discount on alcoholic beverages. This seems to be the other choice for a lot of DVC members that go to WDW frequently and that do not feel that the DP is a good value for them, or don't want to over eat just to get the value out of the plan. Good luck with your decision, and have a great trip.

Has the DDP gone up to $37.99 per day per adult? When did this happen?

Yes it has gone up. When I was talking to a disney reservationist about arranging our honeymoon she said to expect the price to go up. She told me on average the dining plan goes up 2 dollars per year. However, eventually I'm sure there is a stopping point.

Well, we used the Dining Plan and LOVED IT. I think it is well worth the money.

For example, one day, my DH and I ate lunch in Epcot at the Sunshine Seasons counter service. We each got a HUGE turkey sandwich for $6.99, chips for about $1.50, drink for $2.09, plus DH got a big piece of cake for about $3.00, and I got creme brulee for about $2.00. So that is almost $14.00 without tax. And that is JUST counter service. Of course, if we didn't have the dining plan, we wouldn't have gotten the dessert.

The next day at MK, we ate at Columbia Harbour House and we each got a chicken basket with fries for $6.69, a coke for $2.09 and a dessert for $2.49. So that is almost $12.00 without tax.

Anyway... the point is... the counter services ALONE add up quickly! So, I DO recommend the dining plan. Plus, you get to have a nice sit down meal, and not worry about how much it will cost! And live it up... you are at DISNEY WORLD!

It is technically worth it but not by a huge amount depending on your habits. We had a family of 4 and we ranged from $140-180 per day and we had paid about $96 for the plan. For things like character meals where the prices are set you don't come out that much ahead. We happened to eat at expensive CS on some of our days which inflated things (especially with the CS desserts which we barely picked at mostly). At places like Le Cellier and Whispering Canyon it was obviously a great deal. If you eat CS at your resort and have refillable mugs you end up with extra drinks--but we liked that.
