Well, it has finally happened.

Trail's End is now accepting Disney Dining Plan for items on the take out menu.

Here you go:

This is very new.

As far as I could see, it has not been publicized anywhere.

It is not mentioned in the Directory of Information provided at check-in, and there are no notices about it on the comfort station bulletin boards.

I don't know why I don't like this.

But I don't.

But I am happy for you DDP people.

Enjoy.

BTW- The TCD gang was at the Fort this past weekend. Look for a TR soon.

Thanks for the info. Sorry you aren't happy about it. We do use the dining plan sometimes, and am glad to hear we actually have an option at FW now.

Too bad the only thing I think is worth it is the Giddy up and Go and it doesn't look like that's covered on the DP.

However, I think the TIW is much better overall than any DP at WDW so I'm biased to start with.

We used the DDP yesterday for the giddy up & go - A quick service. It was really nice to have an option at the Fort!

Thank you for sharing! This is appealing to me, as we are on the DDP, and I am hoping to go over to Ft. Wilderness and check things out, so, this makes it easy, we can have a picnic!

All I see is DDP symbols by the desserts, do I need glasses or am I seeing right?

Denise- Under each of the entrees (except the Giddyap and Go), it says "Disney Dining Plan Eligible." The pizzas say they require two entitlements. I have never used the DDP, so I don't know what this means exactly, but people were using the DDP to get take-out at Trail's End. They have a new cooler set up there with desserts in it, and water bottles, which I gather are added to the meals as part of the DDP.

The large menu posted outside doesn't mention the DDP the way this paper one does, but the large menu is new, because it lists the pulled pork flatbread sandwich, which was not previously on the menu here.

Obviously, they are still working out the kinks on this. I noticed that the castmembers ringing up the transactions were constantly calling for help from the manager.

My clan and I were at the Fort this past week (we got 1514 - near Tri D's clan I believe)
I overheard a few guests on the DDP asking a hostess at Trails End where else they could eat - get a sandwich basically- and she told them the Meadows Pool. I asked if only the items with the DDP symbol were on the plan and she corrected me by saying all items are on the plan. The symbol designates that they qualify as a snack.

If I remember right, the giddy up & go was 2 pcs chicken, 2 sides, a dessert, & a drink for a counter service meal. The large pizza was 2 CS meals. That's at Trails End and starts at 4:30. The Meadows at the pool has CS options like chili dog, smothered hot dog, BBQ pork on flatbread, and a few other choices. Everything we had was really good, and it was nice having some dining plan options. Oh, I believe the Meadow was available until 5:00 pm.

This is good news.

Do you know is there any takeout at lunchtime?

Tim

No take lunch out from Trail's End. There is a lunch menu at the Meadow Pool Snack Bar. They offer sandwiches and an item called the southern smothered hot dog which involves a hot dog, pulled pork and coleslaw. And I'm not making this up.

Sounds like you got a Lone Rider (two piece meal) not a Giddyap and Go (ten piece meal). The menu does not show the Giddyap and Go as being eligible for the DDP. But you would end up with the same thing plus desert and drinks if you used 5 credits for 5 Lone Riders.

Also, I neglected to mention that the menu for some reason now omits the (in)famous Cowboy Beans as a side item. I asked about this when I ordered my Giddyap and Go. The Castmember said they are still on the menu. I said they weren't. She looked and said that it must be a mistake, as they definitely were still offering Cowboy Beans. I ordered them, and received them, so I can confirm that they are still being offered.

My wife must have had input into the new menu. She has forbid my ever eating the Cowboy Beans again.

Oh happy day! I hate to leave the fort to use my Dining Plan credits. I've really only ever eaten at the HDR because we are Dining Plan freaks.

You're right - It was the Lone Rider! I'm so bummed we're heading home tomorrow. Back to the real world...Ugh!!!

Ok, I just zoomed in, now no need for glasses. :cool2:

Bummer, Dave.

I'll tell you what, though.

Next time you're at the Fort, stop by my site and I'll hook you up with some Cowboy Beans.

We'll show Mrs. DIT who is boss.

Hey TCD....Do you have a picture of the reverse "kid's picks"?

I didn't scan it originally because there wasn't much to see, but since you asked, here you go:

They actually had these Kid Pick items set out in the glass display case where there used to be cookies and brownies in the evening. The PB&J were the Smuckers Uncrustible pre-packaged sandwiches. I think these are similar to the Kid's choices found at the other WDW quick serve restaurants.
