I had heard about DDP before, but never really paid much attention because we have AP's and are DVC members, figured it didn't apply to us. Now I hear that we can use it and I need some help.

When/where do I get the DDP? I already have all my ADRs for our upcoming trip, do I have to call back and do them over if I do DDP?

The first three nights of our trip, we are not staying at a DVC property, but we are staying on property, with a room only AP rate. Can I get the DDP for those nights too, or only the nights that I am in a DVC resort?

If there is a thread out there that explains all this for a newbie, I would really appreciate if someone could point me to it.

Thanks!

I'm not a DVC member but we are renting points and the member we rented from called member services and had the DDP added to the reservation for us. We're also staying the weekend at the Caribbean Beach Resort on an AP discount and I was told we wouldn't be eligible for the dining plan.

Hope this helps!

DVC members can have the Dining Plan added to their reservation by calling Member Services at least three days prior to check-in. The Dining Plan cannot be extended beyond the number of nights of your reservation, and reservations on AP discounts are not eligible for the Dining Plan.

There is a FAQ thread stuck at the top of the forum.

You do not have to do over your ADRs if you add the dining to your DVC reservation.

Unfortuately if you have an AP discount you are ineligible for the DDP. A good alternative, however, is the purchase of the DDE card (you can receive this as an AP holder), which saves you a flat 20% on most TS (including adult beverages).

Since you do not have to order the app, entree, and desert, some find this to be a good alternative.

DVC members can easily add the meal plan by calling Member Services. You will pay for it at check-in. We can't get it for free (even during free dining) but, it is the same price every one else pays.

The only thing is that you must be staying at a DVC resort with points. Even if you use your points to stay at another Disney hotel (non-DVC) you can not add the dining plan. It has to be at a DVC resort. I'm not sure why. Member Services can tell you all about the dining plan. They can even make your ADR's.

I'm not aware of any minimum amount of time to add the DDP before checkin if you are a DVC member staying on points. The directive is just that it must be added by calling Member Services before checking in. Lots of people have quoted two days but in the latest Vacation Magic it just says that "Member Services must add the plan to your reservation prior to your arrival."

Of course, MS is closed on weekends and holidays. ;)

That's probably where the three days come from.... of course, in case of a holiday, three days may not be enough.

I was looking for an 800 number to contact member services to add the dining plan, but didn't see one listed.

Does anyone have it?

Thanks!

If you're a member, you know the number. [ETA: We're not allowed to post the number, because it's a private number for members only.]

If you're not a member and are renting a ressie from a DVC member, you need to have that member call MS and make those arrangements for you. Member Services will not accept any calls from non-members.

It is on the back on your membership card. :thumbsup2

You can only get the DDP dining plan offered to DVC members when staying on points at a DVC resort. You will not be able to get the DVC plan for your room only AP rate.

We were told by MS to please book at least 24 hours in advance of your arrival.

No need to change your ADRs, simply let them know when you are ready to order you are on the Dining Plan.

Please remember that Member Services has specific hours, and is closed on Sundays and holidays. It is the member's responsibility to call Member Services when it is open, to make these arrangements in advance.
