Disney Dining Plan for a portion of our stay?

The Disney Dining Plan looks great, but we can't really afford it for our entire 8 day stay at Disney World. Is there any way to just get a partial DDP? In other words if we stay at Disney Resorts for 8 nights, can we get the dining plan for only 4 nights? As far as I can tell, you either get the DDP for your entire stay - or not. I have no problem with having to do consecutive nights, or at the beginning or end of our stay, it's just that we'll need to go budget for at least a portion of our stay. And there have been some very good tips here at DIS on exactly how to go budget. Thanks again, T

I think you can divide your reservations -- 4 days on a package with the dining plan followed by 4 days on a room only reservation.

I asked about this same thing when we booked. The CM told me that we could book the package with the DDP then book the room only package. Just remember that your dining credits expire at midnight of your last day of your package. So you won't be able to use them during the room only portion of your stay. Call Disney to make sure, but this is what they told me. Hope you have a great trip!!

That would be correct, and with the two reservations comes two deposits.
Just something to consider.

Also keep in mind that the DDP portion of the reservation requires purchasing a ticket. So you wouldn't want to do the non-DDP half of your vacation first, or you'd have to buy 2 separate tickets. (As you probably know, ticket prices are most expensive for the first few days.) If you do the DDP half of your trip first, you can just buy an 8 day (or whatever length) ticket, then keep using it after you switch over to the non-DDP half of your stay.
