I am sure this question has been asked before, but here it goes again....

We are taking a parents only mini trip in May. We are staying at POFQ , but I would like to have our first night (not a day we will be at the parks) at a restaurant on the Disney Dining Plan where we can see Wishes. Any suggestions?

California Grill.
It's a Signature restaurant though so it'd cost you 2 credits. For us the extra price was well worth it. The view from up there is incredible !!

Food wasn't bad either :)

You'll get to see both Wishes and the Electric Water parade from the deck there during an evening meal. The YOAMD cheese cake is divine and it's presentation is jaw dropping. I wouldn't even want to spoil the surprise via a photo.

I had the Surf and Turf, but substituted the scallops for Turf. Many have loved the turf there too. Service was excellent and each question/request was met with an easy "Yes". It was our opening night dinner as well, no park that day for us, but we got plenty of Disney Magic. We too were on the DP in Aug 2007.

We took the bus to MK then hopped the GF water launch across the lagoon. The boat dock is just outside of Narcoossee's, couldn't have been easier to find.

Go and enjoy, but don't tell the kids how much fun you had. ;)

Also O'Hana at the Poly you can watch wishes and they pipe in the music too!@

I've never been to O'hana but we have ADR's for 8:30 on a night that Wishes is at 9:00. Did I time that right?

With all that seems to go on at O'hanas, does the action stop so that you can hear the music and enjoy the fireworks. Or is there a seperate viewing area?

Yea that will be awesome, when I went it did, there is an entire side of O'Hana that is windows that look straight out to the castle and they dim the lights to almost nothing which takes the noise level down and then the music starts and everybody just stopped when that happened and turned and watched the fireworks. I think turning down the lights is what helped the most, but we were able to see and hear and enjoy Wishes when we were there

You might be cutting it a little close if they are running behind and/or if a lot of people are lingering waiting to see Wishes. If I were you, I'd get there early (maybe 8:00?) and request to be seatedin the main dining room. There is a 2nd room off to the side, which tends to be quieter than the main room, but you can't see the windows from there. There isn't a separate viewing area, but I have seen people get up and move around within the restaurant to be closer to the windows. The action doesn't completely stop (I believe they continue to serve food). But, the games and such will stop while Wishes is going on.

Enjoy!

There will not be a Wishes display on the night (May 21) I had planned on. Now what??? Any recomendations on anything else that would be special for that evening? We are not going to the parks that day either. I just want a little Disney Magic for our first night. :wizard:

What about trying 1900 Park Fare or Chef Mickey that night, you can get princess or mickey action at a resort and get the disney magic rolling? Also maybe try cape may that night or Spoodles, the Boardwalk has nightly events and you can see some of epcot's illuminations from a bridge between boardwalk and yacht club. Or (sorry for throwing you all these ideas so fast) but going to DTD and walking around, going to either Wolfgang puck express of restaurant of Captain Jacks and then walking in and out of the shops. We did that and it was nice after travel yet you know you are in disney...you deff. get the disney spirit the second you walk into your hotel.

There's a Pirate & Princess party that night.
You could do that. Or you could still go to dinner & see the party fireworks instead of Wishes. Maybe go to the Poly and watch from the beach ?
