Hello, I am in the process of trying to finalize dining options for my upcoming 8 day WDW trip because I am able to book ADRs in a few days. We have done WDW before but I am looking to wanting to have some fun dining options that my DD will enjoy. She is turning 6 during the trip so the trip is all about her. Any help on what dining options may be good and that a 6 year old would enjoy would be greatly appreciated.

6 year old DD? Any and all princess meals: CRT, Akershus, 1900 Park Fare (breakfast or dinner)
Crystal Palace for Pooh
Tusker House for Daisy
Perfect Princess Tea at GF

CRT is differently the ADR that we will be trying to get when our 180 day mark comes. What meal do you recommend there. We are also looking at dinner at 1900 Park Fare. Is there any non-character meals you think are good.

CRT or Akershus for princesses
1900 Park Fare dinner (stepsisters)
Tusker House for Mickey pals
Crystal Palace for Pooh pals
H&V or Mama Melrose (Fantasmic)

My family is looking forward to trying Via Napoli on our next trip!

If you do H&V make sure it's the breakfast - that's where you find the Disney Jr (Doc & Sofia) characters. My DD was 6 last time we went. We did Akershus (had done CRT previously) and 1900 Park Fare dinner for princesses, Chef Mickey for Mickey etc (DH is a lone hold-out who hates all things AK and Tusker House), and H&V for breakfast, plus BOG for lunch. She loved them all. We had free dining, so we basically ate every TS with characters/princesses.

DD5 loves the character meals of course- CRT, Akershus, Chef Mickey, 1900 PF, Tusker House, etc.

She also loves dinner at Be Our Guest- she thinks it's sooo cool being inside the Beast's castle.

Ohana dinner isn't a character meal but they have some kid games.

TRex Cafe and Rainforest Cafe- no characters.

We tried Akershus last time we went (when DD was 4) and had a real hard time finding food that she would eat (she is a picky eater) so we think we are going to avoid that one this time because there is other fun options of places to eat. Do people recommend the breakfast at 1900 or dinner?

We do breakfast at Akershus- more kid friendly options if your DD likes basic breakfast foods.

I've never had breakfast at 1900PF but we love dinner there! The food is your basic buffet- nothing amazing but lots of choices. The character interaction there is great! Was by far the best of our last trip. The stepsisters are hilarious! I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.

1900 fare really is great for either breakfast or dinner. It depends on characters you'd like to see. Morning is alice, mad hatter, mary poppins, pooh and Tigger. Dinner Cinderella, prince charming, and step sisters. Both are great. But we usually opt for breakfast, buffet is really good...where as dinner is kind of same as any other buffet. Can't really go wrong with either! Also, for something a little different you may want to check out whispering canyon, fun boat ride to WL, resort is gorgeous and fun meal. Also my young children love san angel inn, they lovr to watch the volcano and boats in the background...oh and coral reef, same thing love the aquariums within restaurant!

For non-character meals, I would consider O'hana dinner and Via Napoli. Coral Reef gets a bad rap on here, but we've enjoyed it and the aquarium is beautiful. My DS7 enjoys Rainforest Cafe though the food isn't very good. Sci-fi is also fun

For non character meals my kids love Sci-Fi. They think it's really fun to eat in a car!

THIS could be very tough.... but being Mom? YOU will know what will make her happiest...

YOU COULD go the route of "Character Meals". These will NOT have the best food offerings. BUT, they WILL entertain your DD to a great degree...

YOU COULD choose this time in you life to begin to introduce DD to finer dining... WDW is probably the BEST place to do this - they ALL get "finer dining", and children :).

A MIX of these could be a good idea.... perhaps breakfasts with princesses, and "grown up" dinners?

All of this must be YOUR choice - you are Mom :),

If you're looking for some fun without characters...

Teppan Edo - quite entertaining and the food is good too!
Coral Reef - gets so/so reviews but we enjoyed it the one time we went (although that was a number of years ago)
BOG - we actually prefer the lunch menu to dinner
Rainforest Cafe - we have one near home that we go to, so have never been at Disney. But if it's not something you have at home...
T-Rex - actually surprised at some pretty good food here and best service we had that whole trip. Definitely LOUD though!
Sci-Fi -- although seating for 3 can be difficult in the cars
Trails End - nothing fancy, but some really good basic food for picky eaters. And you can take the boat from MK to the campground so that itself makes it fun!
'Ohana - best meal of our last trip! And they have fun stuff going on for the kids.
Via Napoli - LOVED the pizza!

On our last trip we did 1900 Park Fare for dinner. The step sisters and Lady Tramine were great. Food like others said was your typical buffet food. Not great but not bad. We also 50's Prime time. It could be fun but we were not impressed and the food was ok.

We went to Whispering Canyon and the kids loved it. They are 8 and 9. The food was good and the kids ate decent here. My 8 year old is very picky but liked the food here. Also if you have a 5 pm dinner time and get there early she might be able to open the restaurant. My son got to ring a big triangle and yell come and get it. He also got a kick out of getting a ton of ketchup bottles when he asked for ketchup and then taking to the other tables when they asked for it.

We also went to Teppen Edo. Both my kids loved it and want to go back. I have never seen either one of my kids eat so much while at Disney. We did ask for my daughters noodles not to be mixed with the others and to be plain. She does not like her food to be mixed and she does not like sauces. They were really good with her and she ate all of her noodles and then was too full to eat her chicken.

We did go to Akurshus. We went a few years ago and did not like it. We went this time just to try it one more time. We liked it this time. Kids ate ok but it was our last day and the kids were not eating to start with that day.
