We're trying to come up with some sit-downs to visit during our trip next month. In the past, we've dined generally at character meals and fast food, so we want to try something new. We've checked out some of the menus, but I'd rather take your advice. :)

The problems - first off, we're somewhat picky, to say the least

*things we like? Basically American and Italian cuisine...we're big on chicken, burgers, vegetables, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, etc. We're a bit...well, we don't really like fancy sauces and the like.

*We don't eat seafood.

*As we're both in our 20's and already booked one character meal, we're trying not to do another.

*We've eaten at Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hollywood before and would like to try something different.

*We're really trying to find places for dinner, preferably at the resorts or DTD - places we can eat at after the parks have closed.

Any suggestions?

I am also a 20 something picky eater. I don't eat seafood and steer clear of most out of the ordinary types of food.

That being said, I truly enjoyed dinners at Boma and 'Ohana. Also, if you wish to be even less adventurous than that, I also enjoyed a basic meal at Olivia's at OKW

You sound just like myself and DH..plain eaters, nothing fancy, and no fish.
We really enjoy the Kona Cafe. We used to love Mama Melrose until they changed their menu last summer. The pizza was still very good though. I have since seen that they changed the menu again, adding some basic stuff like Chicken Parm and Eggplant Parm.

Suggestions: Full Service Restaurants

Parks: Liberty Tree Tavern, Plaza, Tony's, Garden Grill, 50s PT, Mama Melrose, maybe Rose & Crown

Resorts: GF Cafe, Konas, Trails End, Big River Brewery, ESPN Club, Pepper Market, Beaches & Cream

Food Courts: Sunshine, Riverside, Roaring Forks, Restaursorus, Liberty Inn

As Grumpy92 suggested, you should preview the menus. That will help a lot.

If you feel mildly adventureous, think about Marakkesh in Morrocco. The food was quite mild, rice pilaf, chicken or beef kebobs, lemon chicken etc...

Also, the dinner buffet at H&V had lots of plain food on it.

We ran into this problem on our last trip. I am extremely picky but I did not want to limit DH and our friends. So I was able to order off of the children's menu (I'm 26) with no problems. I actually ordered grilled cheese at the Concourse Steakhouse. The children's menu most always consists of burgers, pizza, chicken fingers & grilled cheese.

If you haven't eaten at the Plaza Restaurant yet, you must. Pleasant surrounds, very good food - sandwiches, soups, etc. And very filling. Not to mention the wonderful desserts.

Also, I'd never thought I'd hear myself say this, but the PrimeTime Cafe in Disney Studios has pretty good ordinary food. I had the pot roast, didn't care for it much, but the other food was pretty good. Same with the SciFi, also in Disney Studios.

Olivia's at OKW is also a good place to eat. Also check out Boatwrights at Port Orleans - Riverside.

Then at DTD - West Side, try House of Blues. Again, great sandwiches and soups. Some a little spicier than others, but very good.
