Disney Dining Experience - Can someone explain?

My wife just brought this up to me, and if I'm reading it correctly, it sounds like a great deal.

OK, so, I'm an AP holder. The cost of the card is $60. I'll be with my wife and step-son. So, at the restaurants listed, we get 20% off the entire meal?

Yes, thats true. You get a 20% discount on all food and beverages including alcohol for up to 10 people, at participating restaurants.

When you do the math, after paying $60 for the card, you have to spend $300 to break even. That was not hard for us at all! We saved a good bit of money.

If you can fit in 2 or more trips while you have it, even better!

It's a terrific deal. I've had mine for a year now...used it for 3 trips and believe I've saved about $400 to date!!! I've already used it to get the discount on HDDR in Oct, so it looks like I'll be renewing since it's saved me $40 for next year.
On that same trip in Oct, I'll be doing the DDP as a DVC member, but using the DDE card for those other meals/drinks not covered by DDP...oh, life is wonderful!!!

And with your card, valet parking is free when you're eating at a DDE participating restaurant.

You get other perks too, like discounts on the dinner shows and special price to get into pleasure island. It not good on counter service places, except resorts that don't have a sit down restraurant (Values & PO) and counter service at the AK park. There are just a few sit down restraurants that do not accept the card, but they are very few.
