We have been going for a long time and a lot of trips. We now eat mostly at QS and maybe 1-2 TS, we realized that (for us) that the quality of food at TS and the time spent is not worth it. We have never purchased any of the dining plans and have only did FD once, it just does not fit what we want. The time we had FD (DP), I got home and calculated that our tips totaled over $250 (7 days).

DD and I are heading down for our 10th trip this week - we've been going since she was 6 years old and she's 15 1/2 now. This will be the first time we will go without the dining plan. I used to love it (especially when we first went and app, dessert, and tip were included), but we have seen the value of it decline steeply every year since we started going. I still liked the aspect of it being paid up front and so I didn't need to look at the prices so much - it took away some of the sticker shock for me. But at this point, it feels so restrictive for the amount of money that is saved - which honestly I think is probably next to nothing.

This trip I figured up how much DDP would cost us for our 4 night trip, and I'm going to keep track of exactly how much money we spend on food. We have 2 TS booked and will go to more if we so decide. We will eat every snack that catches our fancy, not having to worry about that meal we have planned in T minus 4 hours. We will not have dessert with out QS, and will save room for cupcakes later. I'm very excited to go to Disney WITHOUT the dining plan! And very curious - eating exactly what we want when we want, I have a feeling we will SAVE money! :flower1:

My sister in law and I are going in a few weeks and plan to hit place like Nomad lounge, Crew's Cup and Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar for small plates. Perhaps appitizers at some places.
