I'm planning a WDW vacation for myself and my 4 year old daughter. It is both of our 1st times! I've been to DL in CA several times but never WDW, so I'm doubley excited for her and myself! Here is where my dilema begins I originally planned to go Dec 13-17 because it is both value season and WDW will be full of Christmas magic! But, with the free dinning package opening up for reservations tommorow I'm being tempted to move our vacation to Sept 20-24. My only concern is the weather. Hurricane season really isn't a problem as far as I know because WDW is so far inland. But, the heat concerns me. I don't want to go in late Sept and have myself and my daughter be miserable and not enjoy oursleves. If I book in Dec I won't get the free dinning but I can book through AAA and get some sort of discount that way. I will be spending more moey but it would be worth it to ENJOY ourselves rather than be MISERABLE. What does everyone think? I need your help! I'm planning 5 day park hopper pass, a Disney value resort, and Disney Dinning weither I go in Sept or Dec. Thanks in advance for your help!

I would go for the December trip. The summer months can be brutal in Florida with the heat and humidity. WDW did close on a number of days in the last few years due to hurricaines. Our trip of August, 2004 was cancelled because the Orlando airport was closed. We could not get to WDW (who offered us a complete refund) and our agent from Small World Vacations (WDWVacations.com) and her family were "stuck" in WDW due to the storm.
A big vote here for DECEMBER!

Our family loves going in December. We are a family of 3--DH, DS17 & myself--& we would not be doing the free dining. We costed it out & it just doesn't make sense for us, it's a lot of food even though DS17 can, occassionally, eat some prodigious amounts :p
Depending on what you're accustomed to, occassionally, Dec can be cold, hey, but mittens & jackets are sold in Florida, too ;) In Dec '05 we wore sweatshirts at night, didn't need anything more~ We've been in July & even when young & fit, found the humidity & heat atrocious :faint:

Best Wishes on your trip!

Another vote for Dec!!!

I know the free dining is very tempting, but to get the free dining you are paying RACK RATE on the room. And also, your daughter probably doesn't eat alot, right?? You might want to do a comparison of the 2 costs. I'd go with the AAA rate in Dec. and enjoy the Christmas shows and decorations.

HTH!!! :teeth:

i would go for december also. plus if she is only four and she can eat on the childrens menus so you really aren't saving that much money, if it is just you two.

I also agree with Dec. It's a great time to go.

hehe add me to the december list, i think that would be an awsome time to go

December or early January would be a good choice.

Just to weigh in here. DH & I LOVE going in December. But this year, we were planning a December trip when the free dining plan was offered. We quickly changed our minds and booked for the last week of September. We have been in September before and although it was a little more humid and warm it wasn't miserable. We too are AAA members and when we considered the savings for Sept. vs December we figured that it would save us about $400 over the AAA rate for 2 adults and 2 kids (3-9) for 5 nights. It is worth it to us to take the chance. Also, we know the kids will love the water jets and pools too in September. Many times in December it is too cool for the water or water rides. Some times in December it gets down right COLD, especially in the evenings (I mean hats, coats and gloves cold). We still love December, but this year it will be September for us.

I vote for December! Make sure you bring your coats and gloves. My DD4 was enchanted with the decorations during the holiday season.
