julia & nicks mom said:So glad to hear you are okay -
my parent's best friend's daughter lives in NO - they have a 4 year old (the same age as my Julia) and they evacuated on Saturday and have been told it will be at least 6 weeks before they can even think about going home - I couldn't even talk to her mom without crying
how do you explain that to a 4 year old - how do tell her she can't go home or see her toys - how does she ever recover from that - I just think about trying to explain something like this to Julia and I just can't - how do I explain to her that it is possible that a storm could come and take everything we have? she has seen the news and now she is petrified that a "tomato" (not too good at saying tornado yet) is going to come - which is what we were told to prepare for in Katrina's aftermath - she is ready to move into our basement!
You are all in our thoughts and prayers and if anyone needs anything - please let us know!!!
I second everything Kate said. My kids are petrified of the "tomatos" too. My family all is in MS, and my Brother and SIL will be without power for weeks... My brother owns a construction company. They just finished building the Hard Rock casino is Biloxi and now it is totally gone... My DH and I sat and watched all the coverage tonight and just cried. So many of our good friends and family live in the ravaged areas. I can't imagine how long it will take to even begin to recover. I'm just so sad at the moment. My kids are devastated and very worried about their Aunt and Uncle. I just pray for all those impacted so horribly.
Kate, tell your friends they're in our prayers. I can't even imagine how devastated they all must be.
