Hi All,

This trip we are going with extended family and as such for the first time ever in DLP - we have babysitters! So we are going to go out for the night in the parks - I'm thinking good food and glowtinis. However my plan was to book California Grill but sadly its closed on the 1st June which is the night we have free :( One CM told me that the Founders Club would be open in replacement and to ring back this week but so far no luck - everyone else that I speak to seems to know nothing else about this:( Walts is also closed in the evening so I'm running out of ideas!

Can anyone recommend a nice table service restaurant to try? We are doing Chez Remi in the week with the kids so I don't really want to go there. Are there any hidden Gems in the hotels? or anyone know of any nice places in the surrounding area? I know we could go to Paris but the train ride will seriously eat into our evening time wise... any ideas welcome!

Have you been to the steakhouse in the Disney village? I love the village we always eat at the rainforest cafe, planet hollywood and the steakhouse. In my experience it doesn't matter where you are as long as the kids aren't there lol. We got engaged in the steakhouse 8 years ago so it holds even more meaning for me but it is lovely and the staff are great.

My first suggestion would have been Walt's but as that's closed my second choice would be the Steakhouse. Both the food and the service were really good.

What about the hotel restaurants - isn't NPB meant to have a nice restaurant - the Yacht Club? You could visit the bar as well and have a few drinks. I haven't eaten there but I'm sure you could google it or have a look at the restaurant stickies on here for reviews (or DLP Food Guide). I think it sounds more 'grown up' than some of the other places and if I'm honest, if it were me and DH on a rare night out, I'd want to be somewhere more grown up. We had our 10th Wedding Anniversary at DLP (bit of a coincidence - wasn't planned that way but it hit a weekend and it was a long weekend off school for the kids due to teacher training!). My parents were with us and watched the kids while we went for a nice evening out / meal at California Grill. I wouldn't normally eat here, or take the kids (some people do), so for us, it was a treat. I know it's not an option if it's closed, but I guess what I'm trying to say is, we ate somewhere different where we wouldn't take the kids.

Thank you all for your great suggestions - we have eaten at the Steakhouse before but with our firstborn who was 12 weeks old at the time! Needless to say I don't remember the food very much (we booked the holiday before we became parents and clearly thought we would be sleeping through pretty much straight away!! :rotfl2:) I had looked at the Yacht Club briefly but might take a closer look - we are not big seafood fans but its somewhere we've never been and DH would love to stay at the NBC one day so that would give us a nice glimpse. And yeah grown up is a must! Its so rare we get time to ourselves (in normal life let alone at DLP!) so we want to have a really nice time. My other thought was the Blue Lagoon? Anyone been there and have any thoughts on it? I wish Hunters Grill at SQL hadn't gone to a full buffet as I really liked it as a part buffet part TS and I love the bar in the hotel. The other place we haven't ever been is the Silver Spur in the park. I'm so gutted that they would have California Grill and Walts closed at the same time :(

Blue Lagoon is nice and the atmosphere can be quite romantic as well due to the feeling of being on a beach in the caribbean.

My other suggestion would be to look at the menu at Manhatten in Hotel New York as that always seems to have a more grown up feel to it and the bar there has a more grown up sophisticated feel compared to others onsite

Oh great thank you I will look into the Manhattan :) I'm gonna have a read through all the menus tonight :)

You'd need to check the hours for Blue Lagoon as obviously depends on park closing hours - and may close a bit before that too. Oh, and make sure Pirates is open of course - I think it is, but just check for refurbs etc.

We've done BL before and while we enjoy it, I'm not sure I'd feel it was 'adult' enough if you see what I mean - I would easily take my children there, but I don't think I would to the Yacht Club. I think NPB looks lovely since it's refurb - I'd never been bothered about it before, but would definitely welcome a look around now. Have another look at the menu - I'm sure there will be more than seafood.

Hope you get sorted and enjoy it!

The Yacht club looks very promising on Trip advisor but the last review here looks to be from 2012, Does anyone have a recent menu? :)

I enjoyed Blue Lagoon, my DH was less fussed. We got a waterside table which was nice, however it did seem that every boat that went past had a flash photographer on it!

Ooh lovely - when you get back and have a mo, please do a review of it so we know what it's like.

I can remember we ate our breakfast in here way back in 2012 and it looked very nice - I would have liked to have dined there in the evening but it was closed for the summer.

Hope you have a lovely evening. :goodvibes

Thanks all :) we are booked in on the 1st June so I will report back :) I'm thinking glowtinis at the Redeood bar next door afterwards :) Can't wait!
