Disney cutting jobs

thanks for the link. it doesn't sound too terrible; several of the larger companies here in the northeast have already started doing some mandatory RIFs due to the uncertain economy. we'll have to wait and see.

Though I feel bad for those who are cut, I'm sure this will allow Disney to control its expenditures.

quote:
Those cuts -- which will start out voluntary -- are expected to include as many as 1,400 workers -- or 3 percent -- at the company's Central Florida resort.
That is a relatively small percentage.

quote:
But the cuts do not include most of the hourly workers -- the front-line park employees -- who make up two-thirds of the company's 56,000 Orlando employees.
It doesn't sound like they are cutting too many CMs.

quote:
Disney World President Al Weiss has said the company is seeing softening in bookings for summer and fall and that Disney World will see declines in attendance this year.
Yippee! Less people going to Disney World...more for us DVCers to enjoy!
