Hello! I have been on a Disney cruise in the past and my family and I were looking to go again. When is their "off" season (i.e. cheaper)??? Everything is super expensive!!

I know Sept/Oct is cheeper...aka hurricane season :goodvibes . We sailed last Sept...and LOVED every min of it....even with ALL the hurricanes (we sailed right after Frances...while Ivan was tearing up the gulf and Hurricane jeanne was on the way up :) ...Were set to go again this October :cool1: I also think Jan is lower...Yep just looked in the DCL Passporter...and it say's Sept and Oct..along with Nov and Dec (except durring Thanksgiving and Christmas)...then just a little higher in Jan. Also looks like early to mid may is low also.

The Disney Cruise is super-expensive. There are other cruise lines that are "just as nice" (in many ways) and less expensive, but they don't offer that "Disney magic" so they cannot command the kind of premium that Disney does.

Just a note about booking hurricane season cruises: Do yourself a favor and be sure to get the best travel insurance you can. It may not save your vacation, but it'll at least provide significant compensation if the rare-but-not-uncommon scenario of a cruise ruined by a hurricane affects you.

Just wanted to add...that the overall cost of a crusie, when you figure in what your getting isn't all that bad. Your cruise fare is covering your, cruise, port fees, all the food you could possably eat, most beverages, entertainment, movies, character interaction, accomadations (your stateroom)...so after you figure in everything your getting IMO it's not that bad.

Also to keep costs down...book the lowest cat stateroom that you'd be comfortable in. ALOT of cruisers won't cruise without a balcony....but myself...I'd rather just be on the ship and go up to one of the many decks to look overboard than HAVE to have a balcony. So look over the staterooms and select the lowest priced cat that you'd want (like if you HAVE to have a balcony...or if just a window view would do...or if you just want to be on the ship select an inside stateroom)...Also keep in mind when your selecting your room...how much time to you really plan on staying in your stateroom...and that for the most part no matter what cat stateroom you have you get to do the same things and go the same places as everyone else (Not including cat 1-3...not that they get to go anywhere diffrent but they do get a few perks).

I was also going to say if you do select a cruise durring hurricane season...look into trip insurance....you can find some great prices on insuremytrip.com

HI! We are planning a DC for next December (Dec 2..same as our vacation this year.) But we got what I think was a good price..under 3 grand for the 3 of us. Inc.air from NY. *we didn't get transport or trip insurance though.*
RCCL has great prices and for what we spent we could have probobly gotten a ocean balcony on their line..and its still a really fun ship to be on..we cruised with them all the time before kids, even checked them out this time as well. They do have a kids club. But I still loved DCL's features more, esp for a family vacation.

We cruised in January and loved it. The cost was lower than other times (we did not want to cruise during huricane season but mostly b/c it didn't fit our schedule). We took the 4 day and the weather was beautiful. The only complaint was that the water was a little too cold for me to swim but the kids didn't care.

We have found January to be some of the best prices, just after Sept/Oct.

I vote January - we've had great weather...great prices and from your sig - it is great to get out of that East Coast Weather in January.

Another way to save $, book out as far as possible. We have been booked for our cruise since October 2004 (we aren't going until March 2006). Because we booked out so far we were able to afford going up a few decks and having a porthole. Our current cabin and cruise is now over $2,500 more then when we booked. Even the lowest category cabin is more than what we paid. If you can plan out, that can help you save costs.

They're still selling Cat 12, 5 day Wonder, in some parts of January '06 for $399/person :cool1:

OK Guys, I have checked prices and would love to cruise with Disney, but just seems a little out of our price range. We usually spend around 3500.00 on a family vacation for a week. Just returned from Universal for 7 days, been to Disney twice and stayed at CBR and POR. Enjoyed all 3 trips. Cruised once aboard Carnival (pre-kids) and loved it. Does anyone have information on Carnival with children. Mine are 10 and 12. I'm a little concerned they may be bored. Thanks!!! :rolleyes1

I cannot speak to Carnival, but Royal Caribbean is often touted as the "second best" cruise line for children.
