I am a DVC member and considering a cruise....what is included when you book a cruise using DVC points? Is it just the room? Any food or anything else included??

Thanks!

You get the same amenities when booking with points as you do if you booked with cash. Meals in the main dining rooms and food at the quick service locations by the pool is included. Coffee, Tea and Sodas are free in the dining room and at the soda fountain by the pool.

There are adult only restaurants that have an extra charge. Alcohol is extra.

Thank your for your information....I am a single dad with three kids and trying to figure out how much a cruise may cost. I have 2-years worth of points saved (550 points) plus I can borrow so I am not worried about the points. I live in Pa so I can drive to NY for the 8-day Bahama cruise......as I mentioned just trying to figure out how much the rest of the trip would cost....any thoughts, feedback or past experience idea or "dollars spent" would be a HUGE help!

Thanks!

Our biggest expense is alcohol and excursions, things you can avoid if you want to save money. The things you cannot avoid are tips to server, asst. server, head waiter, and cabin steward. The kids might want some drinks and candy at shows. At Castaway Cay you have to rent floats and Snorkeling equipment, but they feed you on the island. Other than this I cannot remember alot of other expenses. For a family of four we probably spend $800 to $1000 on a 4-5 day cruise, and $1200 to $1500 on a 7 day cruise.

You need to add the cost of excersions, alcohol, spa treatments, and tips. You may want to look at renting your points and using the fee to pay for the cruise. You may come out ahead.

Another thing to note...the first two guests in a stateroom pay the adult fare (points or cash) regardless of their age. In your situation, you would pay the adult fare for you and your oldest child and then the applicable child's fare for your youngest two children.

Just something to keep in mind while planning.

Feel free to call me crazy (I may be) but is it possible that a Disney Cruise could "cost me" less money than going to Disney World? If we didn't do a lot of excursions.... Since I can drive to New York (no air fare) and no park tickets? I'm pretty sure I have enough points....

I'm getting excited but don't want to get too excited! We haven't been to any Disney park or property since 08 :(

We went on a disney cruise and our total bill at the end of the trip was just about $100. We didnt pay for any excursions, we only drank a few drinks at dinner time. I love the cruises because everything is included, we live in orlando so a quick drive over to port canaveral is easy for us. we use points for our cruises as well.

You are not including tips.

You are not including tips.

I only stated what our bill was the end of the trip, I dont count the tips because that isnt part of our bill. But yes I assumed everyone knew you had to pay tips at the end of a cruise. I also didnt include the $99 booking fee.
