Disney cruise solo?

A Disney Cruise solo might be too much alone time for me:rotfl:
I have done parks by myself though and don't have a problem with that so, maybe.
But with the prices for DCL youd be better off with at least two in a cabin. maybe you could get a friend or family member to go with you?

What do you think of doing a cruise solo?

I do them all the time. I've done seven cruises alone and six of those have been with Disney. I even have another solo 14-night Disney Cruise scheduled this year. I really enjoy cruising and visiting new places and if you have any questions about cruising solo please asks.

Thanks

I am going to do it solo for first time

Any advice on how to do things or any hints

I think what's going to be odd is dinner

It's great to hear you are going to try a solo cruise. The best advice I can give you is just have fun and do what you want. Make sure you go to all the shows, visit the clubs in the evening (even if it's just to people watch) and don't be afraid to participate in some of the activities around the ship (pools, gym, singles meet, character pictures and other activities hosted by the Cruise Director and crew). Don't worry about being alone or what others might think. I always meet all sorts of people on cruises and some have become really good friends.

Dinner is not going to be odd at all. Disney Cruise Line will seat you with other singles and/or adult couples so your not sitting alone, however if you want your own table you can request one.

I cruise solo, as well. I love it! This year will be my second time on the Wonder, repositioning her on the West Coast. I guess I like the extra sea days.

Honestly, I just feel comfortable with DCL. I know the Disney product and in some ways, it transfers from parks to ships. The service is amazing! Also, it's very much a family atmosphere. No casinos. You can hang out in Cove Cafe (coffee bar/cocktail bar), visit the clubs, the spa, etc. People (including the cast members) are friendly.

As PP mentioned, don't worry about the dining situation. I'm not sure how DCL does it, but on my first cruise (on the Dream) I was seated with two other single ladies my own age (55+). We got along so well it was as if we'd known each other for years! We had different excursions planned, so we'd go our own way during the day, then compare notes each evening on our adventures.

OP, I know it's a big step to try the first cruise. The easiest would probably be a 3 or 4 night on the Dream to 'get your feet wet'.

Enjoy! :thumbsup2

Yes this coming May

The May trip is the Eastbound transatlantic cruise. I prefer the Westbound transatlantic in September for the ports, time changes and it's a few days longer than your transatlantic cruise. The only downside to my cruise is that we don't stop at Castaway Cay but I've been there multiple times so it's okay. Nevertheless I'm sure you'll have a great time.

You should also look under the cruise section of the boards for group page for your trip. They will most likely be a disboard meet-up and you can share all sorts of information. You might even want to request to sit with several of the disboarders that are on your cruise.

Don't you have that backwards? ;)

BEST.Cruise.EVER. I was never alone unless I wanted to be. And Never EVER lonely!

I'd love to do a Disney cruise solo. The only thing that's prevented me is that everything I see indicates double-pricing for a solo. Yet, you don't eat the amount of food for two. At WDW, although you pay for the entire room whether it's one or two, you only pay for the amount of food one person eats. OK, rant over. But, I think I could handle all that alone time somehow-"force" myself to sit on the balcony and read, read, read.

I agree with you completely. As a confirmed solo cruiser I have seen the prices for single supplement start at 150% and jump to 200% which is like you said double-pricing. The sad thing is I am hooked on Disney Cruises so I continually look to save where I can. Such as booking early or picking a local Disney Cruise so I don't have to spend money on flying or hotels before/after the cruise.

Well we shall see how it goes ;)

I am excited

I live alone so how different can it be lol

Maybe I will get a date ;) lol

Anyhow should be fun

I choose the May cruise due to work schedules and also to avoid hurricane season

As long as you have cruised before on the open ocean so know what it's like, I think you'll really enjoy it. Many of my cruises have been solo. I was never bored with my own company - lol. Dinner was only awkward a couple of times and that was remedied. Although DCL does try to match people with appropriate tablemates, that doesn't always happen. If you don't link your dining with anyone from your Dis-meet thread, I'd suggest at least calling DCL and requesting an "adults only" table.

As for getting a date: The chances of that aboard a Disney cruise are very slim, but of course not impossible. But I'm sure you'll at least meet and mingle with others and have a magical time, with or without them! :thumbsup2

I cruise alone and travel alone and love it! Do what u want when u want and not worry about others. I can't comment on the date thing ;) lol
