Disney Cruise Pricing

I didn't say it was GREAT. I said I didn't think it was that unreasonable for DCL.
I get what your saying. I have an Alaska cruised booked in May. It's not a great rate, but also not unreasonable. I could have done it much cheaper on another line. My deposit was only 340.00 so that's all I lose if I cancel before the 55 days. I'm still keeping my eye out for something better.

We're on a three day this month. Now, I did book less than sixty days out, kept my eyes peeled for pricing, and chose the date partly on the best fare, but what I'm paying (9B-I think) is comparable to what I was getting on Carnival for two insides or a junior suite, which is what we'd have gone with because we're three adults, and it is NOT relaxing for me to have a 250 pound kid sleeping over my head, which is what we'd have been looking at in reasonably priced cabins on most lines. Holland America was a good set-up for us, but for some bizarre reason the third passenger was more than the first or second. I know I was careful when picking, but still, we were pleasantly surprised that DCL fit into our budget, because we'd have assumed we couldn't afford it.

I have a cruise booked on the new Carnival Vista. The Ocean view rooms are 230 sq ft and have the couch that converts into a bed. I'm paying what I would pay on Disney, and it's a better itinerary. I'm surprised you would need two rooms on another line because most of the cruises I've looked at I can get a large balcony room for less than the cheapest inside cabin on DCL.

We are sailing this Dec 24-31 on the Fantasy. We knew prices would be out of this world ;-) for this week, but it's really crazy. The thing is, for that week, the other cruise lines are not any less for what we need. (Deluxe Family, two older teens with DH and I--don't want any pullmans) I had always read that "you can get almost two cruises for the price of DCL" but, at least for this week, it's not the case. I booked the first week of Jan, and looked all over for either 2 inside staterooms or a suite that would fit us for less on another line. I'm not that savvy of a cruise shopper, but the result is that, even though thinking about the cost of this cruise is like staring into the sun, Christmas week is the one time that DCL and other similar lines seem to cost about the same. Is that good or bad--I don't know. But we decided after our holiday season this year that for this upcoming one we really need something to look forward to, and this fits the bill.

The Vista oceanview rooms would be fine for us, actually (we did outside on the Triumph, and it was okay, although he was smaller then), but we were looking at one of their older ships, and the outside cabins are SMALL. I was also suspicious that it was a higher demand date for Carnival than it was for Disney. Inside to inside, or basic outside to basic outside, Disney was coming in at more, but at least for the dates we were looking at, the basic Disney cabins were less or comparable to cabins that we'd comfortably fit in on RCCL or Carnival or Norwegian, and Disney's cabins seemed very well configured for us. I wouldn't be surprised if this is something that varies a lot, though.

The newer ships on other lines are definetly becoming more family friendly. I wasnt planning on Europe this year, but being able to cruise in a new ship instead of one of the old ones that are usually over in Europe made me book it. The 8 day in Sept was 2k less Dcls 7 day, and the 10 day in oct is around 9k less than DCls 12 day in August. There probably wont be a lot of kids this time of year, but my oldest is excited to see the ports. My youngest is happy he will old enough for the teen club so can drive his brother craazzy.

We're on the 6/3 Mediterranean on the Vista. We are in 2 insides and just got a price reduction so with insurance and prepaid gratuities we are on the 8 day for under $4000 for 4 of us.

Yeah we just got a price drop. My dh is not going. He doesn't think he can get enough time off work. I booked a family harbor inside for 1,700 for the three of us. DCl would be 3,800 and no lounge. If my husband changes his mind I would upgrade to a larger Oceanview. I can't believe how incredibly cheap it is. I couldn't do 2 days at Disneyland for 1,700. It really is shocking when your used to DCL prices. We don't have to buy airfare, but we do fly standby. BCN is not the easiest place to get in and out of so hopefully all goes well.

Does there every seem to be sales like when you go to the parks? Or just lower prices during off season?

No never. The only discounts for the public are restricted rates that are released about 60 days before cruise. There are occasionally some private discounts, but not many qualify for those.

I booked under sixty days. I'm not sure what it was before, but I'm pretty sure I saved money by being able to do that.

We just booked our first Disney cruise (and first cruise ever!) on the Dream leaving 10/31/2016 in a deluxe oceanview stateroom with a verandah and are paying total about $960 a person, with insurance included in that. I'm sure we could've done it cheaper on another line, and yes admittedly I am not too familiar with the pricing of other cruises and what they all offer, but that to me wasn't too outrageous of a price for us. I agree it probably isn't a great price, but like a PP said it's also not too outrageous for us. Last year we did 3 vacations (all Disney) which is very unusual for us but because of booking it now, we have plenty of time to save up until it's due in full on 8/17.

We are adding a few park days on before so that will add to the overall cost but to both my boyfriend and me, that didn't seem super outrageous for a cruise. I'm sure if we had kids we would feel differently though. We also picked a room with a verandah because, since we've never cruised, we were/are a bit nervous about being without a window/deck to get fresh air and see the sky.
