Hi, I am thinking of booking a DCL for me and my boyfriend's forthcoming trip....but first I have some questions....

1. Is it too risky to book it seeing as we are going in September and it will be hurricane season? Will we end up disappointed?

2. My boyfriend, while impressed with Disney World, didn't express an interest in going back there this year, will a DC be a good alternative or wasted on someone who didn't appreciate Disney.

3. I have found a package for £219pp, for a short bahamas DC....is this a good price or should I look around for a better deal?

Thanks!

Here's my answers:
1. I've never cruised in September, but other posters have said that Disney is good at avoiding big storms. In the past, they have had to divert to different ports and I know 1 or 2 cruises were delayed because DCL couldn't get into or out of the port. I say go for it as long as you don't have your heart set on the specific ports of call. The rates are cheapest in Sept.
2. IMHO, DCL is for everyone. Yes it is Disney themed, but there are no attractions like at the parks so it is very different. It is a totally different kind of vacation than WDW and there are many adult only activities like Palo, the spa, an adult only pool, bars, etc... and these are not disney themed. Go for it!
3. I don't know if that is a good price or not, but it never hurts to get quotes from several different places.
Have fun planning your trip.

1. We cruised in September last year and are cruising in September this year also. Even though last year we ran into Hurricane Jeanne, Disney did an amazing job dealing with it. We always went around it and stayed as far away as we could. It got a little bumpy, but everything was fine. We missed CC on Friday and were back in PC by 10 pm. DCL everyone up at the Dolphin that night and we were provided with breakfast the next morning. They still took us to the airport just like they would if nothing had happened.

2. I think your BF will have a great time. Even though it is a DC you're not constantly surrounded by it. There are adult areas. There is a pool just for adults, there is a club area, a resturant for adults. He'll be fine.

3. Prices I really don't know. Just shop around and check with everyone, even DCL to see what price they have.

Have a great trip.

We normally vacation in October. Last year we went in between hurricanes. We were quite lucky. Disney does it's best to reroute a cruise so they do not have to cancel one.

Thirteen years ago we went out (on our first cruise) of Miami just hours prior to Andrew hitting Homestead. We cruised with NCL and they did a wonderful job of making our itinerary. We just went backwards, with the exception of their private island we made every stop. Yes the seas were choppy but it was still a nice cruise. Cruises lines can and will change the itinierary to make your cruise happen. You amy not get to go to the ports you had booked but you still get to go on your cruise more than 99% of the time when a hurricane is baring down on Florida.

I have cruised in September and will again for sure! Even during a hurricane :) They just go around it! Luckily we got to the ports BEFORE all the devistating damage occured and it did not alter our plans at all. This was a few years ago. First DC was in July... HOT! Then Sept., then May and then just in Dec. so I will definately go while school is in session just because its cheaper, not as hot and not too crowded :)!! I love Disney and have taken different people with me every cruise! My mom who cant swim and hates water absolutely loved it and talks about it all the time!!! You will love it for sure!!!

Question 1- DH and I went in Sept last year and it was great. Yes it is at the high point of hurricane season, but hurricane season starts in June and runs until Nov. 30th. So that is a hugh chunk of time that you take the risk. But Sept has such great rates. Just be sure to get travel insurance. Even if you don't use it, it's worth the piece of mind that it provides.

Question 2- DH is not the Disney nut that I am. I love the parks and show and the cruise. Now DH enjoys the rides and he humors me by running around like a manic from park to park just to see fireworks, but his reward is the cruise. He loves it more than anything else we do. It's not just a family, or children driven vacation. It is really a wonderful vacation with many different thing for everyone!

Go and enjoy!
