Disney cruise beverage tasting

Lol that's what vacations are for--enjoying yourself. Did you pre-book all of them or were there slots available once onboard? All for our upcoming cruise are sold out, but I'm hoping some slots will be available onboard.
I board the Magic tomorrow, is it just standard guest services to check?

This and the pre-covid mixology (passengers mixing drinks) have been our favorite. The chocolate is high quality; it's Valrhona. However, it isn't a lot of chocolate. It's about how the liquor and chocolates interact with each other. The 25 year port is good quality.

This is my problem, my wife really wants to do the Chocolate and Liquor tasting, in which we are signed up for, but I don't drink alcohol at all. So I am just going for the chocolate and her company.

Sounds like us! Lol. My husband isn’t huge on alcohol or chocolate but he’s coming with me to hang out. And I’m mostly in it for the chocolate. :)

- Bourbon - same host as the whiskey, talked the whisky talk with a little about bourbon. 4 bourbons, 2 good, 1 decent and 1 pretty bad. Blanton’s was definitely the highlight.
We're doing the bourbon and tequila/marg tastings on our late March cruise. I'm a bourbon guy. If they have Blantons or something along those lines as a high end option, that's pretty good. I wouldn't expect them all to be top end, but have heard some have had Buffalo Trace as a mid-tier (which isn't top line or anything but is really hard to find/get here in So Carolina).

In general, I've heard that it is the bartenders choice as to what to have, so I'm curious to see. I do think, for the price, that it's really not bad. I mean, 1 shot of Blantons would run you prob $15-$18 at a bar here in Charleston, even more than that on a cruise I bet.

The emphasis is on the pairing of chocolate to certain alcohols, and how it modifies the taste and texture of the alcohol. If you are just going to taste chocolate you will be disappointed, IMO.

I am just going to spend the time with my wife and make her happy. The chocolate is just an extra perk. That is hardly the worst thing I have ever done to make her happy, I sat through Cats.

We just booked our tastings for the Dream May 16th cruise last night (Jan 15th). We have done numerous tastings over 10 cruises and they are extremely educational, worth the money, and tasty.

For the Dream cruise:
Champagne 2:00 pm $38 per person (PP)
Bourbon 8:00 pm $28 pp
Cognac 8:00 pm $28 pp
Whiskey 8:00 pm $28 pp
We have done all the wine tastings but this is just a 4-day cruise and not enough time. (The wines chosen are many I have never had the opportunity to try).

The selections they provide for the liquor tasting are well beyond the price you pay for the class. It is a chance to taste something we could not afford if paying by the drink. Absolutely a very good investment in time and money for the quality of liquors provided in the tastings. And you will learn more than the price of the class. Go For It. Surprise him !!!!!!
Thanks!! I just need to figure out which ones I want to book.

Just got off Fantasy yesterday. I did the:
- Tequila - excellent seminar, 4 tequilas and 2 mixed drinks
- Whiskey - OK, host talked too long then gave us 2 decent whiskeys, 1 OK and one paint stripper (Whistle Pig Rye)
- Beer - OK, 4 beers and 1 beer cocktail. Nothing special, all beers you’ve had before.
- Rum - Awesome, but I’m a rum guy. 3 decent rums, 1 excellent one (Zacappa 23) and a rum old fashioned. Nice
- Champagne - 4 decent champagnes 2 very good ones, excellent hostess (Eka)
- Chocolate and Liquor - Really, really fun. Decent booze and premium chocolate you can only get aboard the ships. Definitely worth doing!
- Wine - 2 whites, 1 rose and 3 reds. All decent to very good. Eka again, excellent job.
- Bourbon - same host as the whiskey, talked the whisky talk with a little about bourbon. 4 bourbons, 2 good, 1 decent and 1 pretty bad. Blanton’s was definitely the highlight.

Hope that’s helpful! All were between $25 and $30 if I recall correctly. I just realized I look like a total lush from that list too! They’re all SMALL samples, see….. :-D
Thank you so much for the information. Now I need to decide which ones to book.

OK we had the martini tasting booked (no margarita/tequila on our sailing) but after reading and watching that video, I booked the chocolate and liquor one too! Very excited!

So not a huge drinker, but I am a huge chocolate lover. I signed up for the alcohol and chocolate class. Does anyone know if it’s all hard liquor? Is the chocolate anything special?
We've done this on 3 cruises. The chocolate is good quality, but I don't know if I'd call it "special." I am not a big drinker, and never drink hard liquor straight, but I have LOVED this tasting (done it three times). It's all about how the tastes change when you pair with different things. Very interesting, and a lot of fun. I liked trying something I don't normally drink.

Each time we have done it, there has been a champagne, a red wine, a port and a scotch.

We've been on 9 sailings and I have never done one of these! Probably cause I've been too busy wrangling kids. But now they are older and we sail next month & I booked Champagne on embarkation day and Tequila/Marg for a sea day. I'm excited to try them but hoping it's not a socially awkward thing in any way.

Haha, I did the same thing! Had bourbon booked, but added chocolate based on all the rave reviews in this thread. Thanks, y’all! Looking forward to it.

Add in the wine flight at Remy, and you are good to go, or not :rotfl2:
Our first time at Remy we didn't know what to expect, so had some drinks before dinner. Then decided to add the wine pairing. That was a fun night 😂
