Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any good ideas of things my kids can make before we leave on Sunday? I'm thinking of maybe Disney journals, homemade postcards, crafts, etc. Anything that we might be able to find online to help them get in the Disney mood this week?

Thanks!
Angie

Depending on where you are staying, they could make something to hang in the windows of your hotel room. I've heard of a lot of people doing this these days!

Make Mickey shaped cookies! :rotfl: Okay, if you are looking for something with a little more staying power, maybe let the kids design their own shirts? Have them draw or create a picture and then scan it and print it out on iron-on paper to put on a shirt. I did this once and the kids loved it. They were so proud of their shirts too!

How about cute little autograph albums they make themselves. You could use index cards or make your own from cardstock (this allows for kids' favorite color options). Let the kiddos decorate each card with a different character sticker (available at just about any craft store). Punch a hole in the top and connect them with a single binder ring. If you want to jazz it up further, add different colored ribbons to the rings. The characters and the kids will really love it and it's something they'll keep for a long, long time:goodvibes

We made our own autograph book and it turned out so cute. We bought a small spiral bound scrapbook type book (craft store) and stickers and put a different character on each page. My dd (5) can't wait to use it. It is nice because she can't read but she will know the character looking back because of the sticker.

We made some to for mickey's h'ween treat and my boys first trip to DL. We really went all out on our autograph books, but it was worth it. The characters LOVED them and my boys got LOTS of extra special attention from the character with each autograph they collected. When I got home, I added pictures of them with each character. They love those books and pull them out often--even though two years have passed. I've never gotten more love or mileage out of a souvenier--ever!!

I think it'd be fun for a child create one all by themselves. It dosen't need to be anything too elaborte, just something special they'll treasure and have to remember their speical trip.

My fiancee has made iron-on shirts for my daughters and we have made them a treasure hunt for the resort. We also have tivo'd every Disney show that comes on tv, have been watching Disney movies like crazy too. They have coloring books, paint books, and we have made bags for them to carry in the park with iron on patches, their names and matching handkerchiefs to tie on them too. It does not always have to be Disney either, anything that they have made for the trip has them excited. She has made flip flops with ribbon and flower clips, we have small, new toys for them to play with on the drive there.

Making autograph books is fun...I downloaded clip art and got the books bound at Kinkos. There are also some great t-shirts threads on the Creative DISigns boards for making your own t-shirts -- there are iron-on transfers, tye-dies and a great solar t-shirt project from Family fun magazine w/ excellent instructions.

You also may want to pick out scrapbooking supplies for when you get back (and have those my-Disney-trip-is-over blues) or decorate some picture frames. You also may want to consider alternatives to the autograph book and try canvas bags, bucket hats, picture mats, etc and gather supplies accordingly.

You can also print off pages for coloring and puzzles w/a Disney theme and make funbooks for the drive/plane trip.
