So, we surprised our DD with a trip to DLR for her 5th birthday (our DS2 made the trip too). Her favorite Princess is Cinderella. Our first attempt at seeing her and taking pics was at the Princess Fantasy Faire. While in line, I walked to the side to peek over the wall to see which Princesses were there. Sure enough, Cinderella is there. So, we're happy and excited. We get to the front, and guess what? That's right, she's not there. Our DD is a trooper so no tears, but a long face nonetheless. It was still great to see Belle (our DS's favorite), Aurora and Jasmine.

The next day, we go to Ariel's Grotto for her birthday dinner. Out comes Snow White, Mulan, Jasmine and Aurora, but no Cinderella (aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!). So, my DW and I vow that our only mission for the next day (our last) is to find Cinderella.

The next day comes, and we head straight for Princess Fantasy Faire. I peek over the wall, no Cinderella. After an hour wait, we make it to the front, go around the corner and... no Cinderella. Again, it is great to see Belle, Ariel and Tiana.

So, we talk to a few CM about where else we can find her. They tell us to go to the PFF and to definitely have a meal at Ariel's Grotto, she'll definitely be there. Hmmph. Finally, one CM tells us to go to City Hall Guest Services, they've been known to make miracles happen.

So we go there. I ask my DW to go in, she can be very persuasive. She comes out and whispers into our DD's ear that Cinderella has sent a special invitation for us to have a meeting with Cinderella back at PFF. We are again happy and excited. I am thinking that they knew for sure that she'd be there and we'd be able to get a pic, and they let us in on the secret. Boy was I wrong.

We get to the entrance to the line for PFF and tell them what Guest Services told my DW. They ask us to wait off to the side. Then, a couple of CMs ask us to follow them. We go behind a rope, down a ramp and through a closed door. Then we see a heavy velvet curtain. It is pulled back and there she is, Cinderella waiting for us in a private room. Our DD is grinning from ear to ear. Cinderella greets us and starts a conversation with our daughter. She says how sorry she was that she missed our DD on her birthday at Ariel's Grotto, and for also missing her at the PFF photo sessions. She playfully refers to our DS as Gus Gus. She warns him not to eat too much cheese. She starts signing our DD's autograph book, but instead of the standard signature, it's a personal birthday wish. So precious. She was very personable and sincere. All in all, we had about 5 minutes of uninterruped, undivided attention from Cinderella. It was the highlight of the trip.

This is why DLR is the happiest place on earth.
