I had a question for past/present DCP participants. I have made the courageous decision to go back to school. I will either be starting this summer or in the Fall. It has been 5 years since I got my first degree, and I finally figured out..."What I want to be when I grow up". I am 27 and going into a Tourism program. My dream is to become a Disney Vacation planner and I thought that a good way to get a foot in the door is to go through the DCP! I did not apply during my first time in college...because I thought that they would not accept based on my major, history, so I swept in under the carpet. Now...5 years later and happily married, I do not want this regret looming over me any more. I want to "Carpe Diem!" ...you know...before we start a family. :D Has anyone done the program at an older age and found it to be beneficial?

Thank your for reading my brief back story! Look forward to hearing from some awesome Dis-ers!

I'm 27 and am currently doing the program. I did it once before when I was 19, lol and I know that I want to work for the Disney Company long term so I figured dcp would be my foot in the door so I applied the semester I graduated so I could just ease into part/full time. My degree is in Communication and right now I'm a bus greeter. I just started it so I don't know much yet, but previously I was food and beverage. I'm kind of stuck in the walk of life also lmao so I'm also doing this as a way to help get rid of some of my credit card debt :confused3 lol

If you're married, you might want to look into off housing unless it's just you coming to FL or if you already live here, never mind lol

Thank you for the input! It would be just me coming to FL since my husband has a great job here at home in Buffalo. I don't mind having roommates, since I would probably barely be in the rooms! LOL! As long as they don't mind an "old" married lady hanging around! haha! :)

Did you ask to be a bus greeter? How is it? My daughter is joining transportation in a few weeks. She is hoping to be on a boat. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'll be 31 in two weeks and am currently on the culinary side of the program. One of my roommates is 35. I know other people in their 30s and a few in their 40s (and older) on the program. It's what you make of it, honestly. I definitely think you should go for it if this is what you really want to do :)

Thank you! Do they usually put you with others close in your age range for the apartments?

Not really. If you don't find people on your own and go random, they just fill the apartment. My other roommate (there are three of us in a one-bedroom) just turned 21.
