Hi everyone. I'm new to this DCP. My daughter has been doing the Disney college program since jan 2014. I just want to know if there's a easier way for my daughter to request time off from work without having to wait 2 wks before her requested time? I just don't get it! Can someone tell me am I the only one who doesn't understand this concept? I could really use some feedback! Thanks in advance!,:confused3

This does not sound the least bit uncommon to me and it is not unique to WDW. Perhaps I don't understand your question. Perhaps you are not aware that schedules are made 2 weeks in advance. They would not grant time off during the current 2-week schedule. She always has the option to give away her shifts to coworkers or trade with them if she really needs time off during that time.

On my CP last year we put in the days that we request off and on our request page it either tells us that it was approved, denied, or on hold (or to that effect). On hold, you usually work working unless it changed. We never had to wait and see unless it said it was pending.

I requested TOT ten-mile run off and was on hold but ended up having to work because I was studios but, they gave me an early shift so I could run the race.

My DD requested off for a week at the end of Sept/beginning of October back in August and was granted approval. I believe that they can NOT request off within 2 weeks of the date, because the schedule is already posted for those 2 weeks. For example, this past Saturday, my DD already had her schedule for this week and next week, so she would be unable to request off, but could try and find someone to work for her (pending approval).

Thank you all for your quick replies:thumbsup2. All your answers did help.I'm going to be more detailed. Currently my husband and I and my daughter (she's doing the DCP) are trying to decide what days to go visit her this coming November 2014. We still have not decided. Now let's say tomorrow we decide on going to visit my daughter for 3 days ...October 8th, 9th and the 10th. She goes on the website the same day we decide, she requests the 3 days and gets a reply that it's pending or on hold. This is what has happened to us twice already in the past. She won't know until October 3rd 2014 if she got the days off or not. Is there not another way to find out much earlier than that? I hope I'm making sense!:worship:

It's definitely possible to know earlier, but it might be dependant on managerial style, position, etc. My daughter is qsfb and already knows which days she has off during our December visit. Thefirst two days she is on a "wait" list but the other days she already got off.

My daughter requested several days off when we went to see her on the program last year. Her request was never approved so she just gave her shifts away. It's usually pretty easy to give away shifts. There's always someone looking to pick up shifts. I would just book your vacation for whenever you want to travel. She'll probably be able to give the shifts away if not approved.

No. If it was waitlisted, unless it's approved later you won't know until that schedule is posted.

I am an alumni and my family came down to visit me once a month or so (program was Spring, started in January, had visits by family in Feb, March/April, end of May/early June and July. I got pretty much all my requested days off and did the requesting well in advance.
