For all you looking to eat cheap once you are in FL, please check out this site http://www.iheartpublix.com/ This blog details all the sales at Publix and even has links to coupons, etc. Before I discovered this site, I never realized how cheap you can get things if you just work at it - but this lady does all the legwork. Today for example at Publix I got 4 boxes of PopTarts for .62 each!! LOL!

While this is generally true in most cases (I do most of my shopping at Publix), it's not really so for the Publix near DI&P Housing. Because it's located smack dab in the middle of the Tourism Corridor, the prices are higher than they are in the rest of Metro Orlando. You can save money, but then you're still paying what would be normal prices elsewhere in Central Florida.

Just go to Walmart. Their prices are also slightly elevated compared to other Walmarts, but it's still lower overall.

Right, but Publix doubles their coupons whereas WalMart does not. So even though the listed price at Walmart is cheaper without a coupon, with a coupon it is often lower at Publix (and other stores that double)
But I do realize what you are saying regarding it being higher due to the tourism area. Regardless, if you keep a regular check on the I Heart Publix site, you may be able to find some great deals on things that you can stockpile to make it worth your while printing out several coupons and going there...like cereal, pasta, etc. Stuff that isn't perishable. You know, plan ahead based on sales/coupons.

PLUS - at Publix you can use 1 store coupon AND 1 manufacturer coupon on a single item - often times that can make items nearly free!

I have never been to a Publix in the state of Florida (and I have been living in Fla for 16 years) that doubles coupons.

I'm not sure about FL but I do know GA Publix's double coupons on certain items and days. I have never been to a Publix that has doubled every single coupon.

WOW are you serious?! I'm shocked! The manager at my Publix told me it was company wide, every state. Well that really sucks! Sorry guys.

I guess we are lucky here in Atlanta then because coupons are doubled every single day. It is amazing the ultra cheap stuff you can get.
