I have a question for those of you who collect Disney items. ::MickeyMo

What do you collect and how did you get started?

I don't know which poster it is, but I've seen one person's sig who has a bunch of Mickey head antenna toppers in their car and I thought it was the cutest thing! I'm thinking about starting my own little collection of them and putting them in vases around the house. It would be just a touch of the Disney magic. :goodvibes I'd love to start just a general collection, but not sure where to start!

My new obsession is very expensive, Disney Lenox and WDCC. I just started collecting and have one piece of Lenox (which isn't as expensive) and then a piece of WDCC on the way that I bought off of ebay. I got started by seeing them at Disney last week in the display cases. They are gorgeous!!

I used to collect pins but it just became to overwhelming for me. There are just to many. My new objective is to stick to Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Lady and the Tramp and The Aristocats ONLY! Unless of course its something I can't live without.

Dw collects snow globes and figurines and DD's collect pins and I collect Disney artwork.

I didn't know what WDCC was, so I looked it up -- those things are incredible! Are they limited?

I found a few works of art at the Contemporary I'd love to have brought home with me during our last trip!

I collect Mickey the Sorcerer stuff (large waterglobes, figures).

But our biggest and most expensive Disney item is the new Thomas Kinkade painting of Disneyland's Main Street. We haven't yet received it, but we'll move our Carmel Kinkade in the family room to give it a "place of honor"!

I have a small Winnie the Pooh collection and I collect Disney Keychains.

WDCC is limited and they are spectacular. The one I just bought is this one,

Since our baby girl is going to be named Ariel-Jadeyn I thought having an Ariel Collection would be nice for her.

I now have to go look at a picture of that Thomas Kincaid painting. I love anything TK does. Randy Souders also does some gorgeous Disney paintings.

It's Poohnatic with the toppers in her car. She has more than me because her husband doesn't limit her to just Mickeys. :rotfl: I have around 40-50 Mickey antenna toppers. We don't have an antenna on my car and my husband is a party pooper and won't let me put them on his, so I've been sticking them on dowels and trying to figure out what to do with them... Vases actually sounds like a good idea...

I received my first Mickey watch when I was in the 8th grade (the one with the flags for numbers and played "It's a Small World"). Over the next ten years I collected over 80 Disney watches. I haven't bought one now in over 5 years, but I still have my collection! They range from cheap Happy Meal watches (just a few) to limited edition's from WDW (just a few), the rest are in-between (the vast majority of them!). I don't think the value is very high right now, but I'll hang on to them for a while and see if maybe I can one day put my kids through college with them!

I love the art and the original cells and lithos they are my vice for collecting.

I collect anything Cinderella - snowglobes, pins, magnets, etc
Wanted to get the Cinderellabration doll while in DL but no room to get in home on a plane :sad2:

I collect Disney movie pins mostly the Princesses Cinderella, Beauty, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine and Ariel. I also collect Figment pins. I display the pins in shadow boxes.

I collect the big Disney snowglobes. One curio full of the Princesses (as above) and the other curio two shelves of Mickey, a shelf of Pinocchio, Figaro, Gepetto and the last shelf Jiminy Cricket and two different Tinkerbells.

I also collect Disney Princess lithographs.

There is so much to collect I limit myself to what I like ie. mostly characters from Disney movies.

I have a friend who collects the WDCC Beauty and the Beast pieces. She was on a quest for several years to get them all. They are expensive but oh so pretty! She just moved into an apartment after she lost her husband and her house and the day we set up her new cabinet with the WDCC pieces really was a good day for her amongst all the bad days.

I have an eclectic collection. I have two Tinkerbell Lennox pieces and four WDCC pieces. I also have a small collection of movie lithos and 4 park lithos. My DH bought me two sericels (Cinderella & Prince Charming and Mickey & Pluto). I also have some Enesco pieces (Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs and various others). Everyone knows I love Disney so they buy me different things all the time. I had planned on sticking to one theme or type of item to collect but that isn't working out so far! I would like to start a collection of snow globes but I keep all my Disney stuff in my office and I am running out of room!

We collect lots of things, including Disney stuff. We have big figs, pins, snow globes, model sheet figurines, Harmony Kingdom boxes, salt & pepper shakers, park figurines, resin figurines of things like Mickey with the Fireman, a few WDCC pieces, a ton of plush, and so much more. We have so much stuff that it now has taken over one of our guest rooms. We actually are going to make it our media room/2nd guest room. Anyone that stays in that room had better be really careful. We usually bring home one or two nice pieces from every trip. This is what happens when you love the mouse and have no kids. lol Maggie

You could have had them ship it to your home. If it is still avilable call Disney Merchandising 407-363-6200 and you can order it. Just tell them what is was, where it was, and they will ship it to you.

Funny, I was just lamenting all my Disney stuff today to DH who helped feed the need.....I've been collecting for nearly 25 years and have amassed quite a bit...from WDCC to original cells and art work to my *prize* piece - A Whitler's Mother 2ft wooden carved Mickey who I am told is quite rare - Lamenting because I have two boys who have no interest....so what becomes of it all when I'm gone? Yes, I'm hoping to enjoy it all myself another 40 or so years, but also hoping for granddaughters....

Why the grim thoughts? An aunt recently passed and her husband and sons (all not married) just up and threw all of her stuff out - Waterford, Lalique, Lenox, China, Silver, family antiques - everything - in the trash. The neighbors had a field day picking thru that garbage, until one finally called my mother and told her what was going on. I'm told my mother banging on doors demanding stuff back was quite the sight!

DH and I collect Ellenshaw artwork: A Walk in Walt's footsteps, Glass Castle, and the Sorcerer. We also collect WDCC: The electric light parade, Snow White, the POTC piece, grinning ghosts. Our newest collection is the OLSZEWSKI Olszewski minitures of various Disneyland locations.

We need a bigger house so we can display all of it.

Not really a collector item, but I just purchased the new Mickey Cooler. Everytime I use it, I think of Disney. I've already gotten so many compliments on it. On the top, it has the black head that velcros for easy access to inside the cooler.

I just LOVE it...
