Disney Coffee

The whole "disney coffee" concept fascinates me. I think I've mastered the art of acquiring ADR's for the most part, but getting a good cup of coffee is another story! For example, in the Beach Club marketplace, that coffee is super weak, yet at the Cape May breakfast, it's great. Yet, they say it's the same coffee. I wonder why?

I totally agree about the coffee situation, and I'm not a huge snob. On one trip I made the mistake of buying the resort mug so I could get coffee every morning. Little did I know that Nescafe was waiting for me in the food court. YUK!!!

I've had an OK cup somewhere in the Animal Kingdom, over by Kilamanjaro Safari, I think. It's not Nescafe.

I usually get a cup at the bakery in Hollywood Studios that's on the corner of the Streets of America. It's not Nescafe, either.

There's a cart in Epcot across from Mission Space and Test Track that has brewed coffee. It's OK, usually kind of slow because they make other coffee drinks, too.

My brother stayed concierge level at the Contemporary last time we went, and I enjoyed MANY cups of coffee in the refreshments area on the concierge level on that trip. Of course, you'll have to pay through the nose for that!

Not to sound like a company shill, but Starbucks just released nationwide a microground "instant" coffee called Via. It comes in little packets that dissolve in both hot and cold water. Even though it is instant it is pretty good, we have been doing taste tests at work, testing our via against our everyday brew and most customers can't tell the difference. That might be a good option for you!

Totally agree, Via is pretty darn good! We did the taste test today with the Pikes Blend (is that the name?) and it was really difficult to tell the dif between the 2. I'm sold. Bought a couple of boxes to use in coffee emergencies and to bring to WDW with us. I love the idea of being able to put it in a bottle of water and having instant iced coffee!

I really can't figure out why Disney can't partner with another coffee company other than Nescafe! :confused3 They would probably sell so many more of the refillable mugs if they had good coffee!!!!

I'd rather pay a little bit more and get real coffee than the Nescafe. It doesnt make any sense because many people love their coffee.

They have their own. We ate there last week and, not only was the dinner spectacular (review coming soon), but the coffee was real. Our server told us the previous chef was a coffee lover so he had a special coffee just for the restaurant. Don't know if this story is true or not, but the coffee was definitely not Nescafe. We always stay at the Wilderness Lodge and this was our first Artist's Point dinner, but it's now on our must do list. The dinner was enough to put it on the must do list, but the coffee sealed the deal.

Necrape' is an abomination, hot coffee flavored water, beyond disgusting. Thankfully, WDW offers some spots with real coffee. For many years we had to go to Kona to get our coffee fix, this past trip we tried the coffee at the CR coffee shop and it was great! If you are staying elsewhere, just bring your own. It is def. worth the trouble.

I don't understand why all the deluxes don't have a coffee stand, like the Poly and CR. When we stayed at the GF we still had to go to Kona for a decent cup. I don't get it. Baby steps I guess I just need to be thankful that now you can get coffee at the CR.

My husband and I had commented on our first two trips that the Disney coffee was poor. Now that we are DVC'ers we solved that with a bag of Dunkin Donuts Coffee and some filters.

:thumbsup2 Me, too.

Its funny I to dont like the necafe that much but down In Disney Its ok:confused3 for some reason?.I will never drink It at home but If I do not drink It ay the world It like I am missing something:rotfl2:

Thank goodness I'm not the only one! I NEVER drink this stuff at home, but I guess at WDW I just associate the taste with vacation. DH and I both like "good" coffee, and he can't stand the Nescafe, but I actually enjoy it. Crazy!

By far the best cup of coffee I've had on property was at the Maya Grill at Coronado Springs. We had a great dinner and finished it up with a great cup of coffee. I don't know the brand but it was an italian blend, very very smooth and not super strong.

I know this sounds crazy but I agree with you. DH and I actually like the coffee at Disney. At first we weren't too crazy about it but maybe mentally we started associating the taste with Disney and that's why we like it...who knows! :confused3 Maybe I can find some near home and bring the Disney flavor into my house....trick myself one morning into thinking I'm really at Disney! :rotfl: NOT!!! :lmao:

I do the same thing! I <3 Dunkin...I bring Dunkin Donuts Coffee & Filters but I also bring those disposble coffee cups so I can have it to go and don't have to carry my Disney Travel Mug all Day. Plus the mugs provided in rooms are way to small haha :)

The Contemporary coffee stand on the first floor, can you bring your refillable mug for that, will they fill it even though you have to pay for it?

We get Starbuck's beans free, buy DD and bring a grinder and a French Press or percolator.DW has to have coffee with 15 minutes or my day starts out bad:lmao:

If we stay offsite or at another park we hit DD or Starbuck's on the way.Cinnabon is also a big fave starter.

I will be bringing my own for the room. We drink a variety of coffee from Trader Joe's.

I think Dunkin Donuts coffee is awful, and would barely drink it over the Nescafe. Am I the only one? I bought DD coffee from DD and thought.. it must be the styrofoam I taste (which is another reason I wouldn't buy it from DD again - styrofoam), but then had it at a friend's house, and it wasn't the cup that made it taste that way... it's the coffee that tastes that way.

I'd much rather have a Caribou or Starbucks chain coffee. I'll also be bringing the Starbucks Via, as well, on this trip.

The coffee in the Norway bakery is good even though there is a Nescafe sign over the door.
I actually had to wait while they filled the beans that they grind for each shot of espresso.

The Coffee at Pepper market is good if you get it at the coffee stand.
If you get it from your waiter they give you Nescafe (or some really weak coffee like beverage.)
Also if you get it from the coffee stand it may NOT count as your beverage with a CS meal.

<OT>
I just do not understand why people are willing to except the lower quality coffee from Disney because it is Disney.
I also do not understand the people who feel a need to bash Starbucks corporate coffee, but not Disney corporate coffee.
I am not a fan of Dunkin any more for many good reasons I won’t go into, but I do not feel the need to bash it and I would be thrilled if they replaced the coffee in Disney with Dunkin.
(I'm not talking about just this thread but all the coffee threads.)
</OT>

As for why they use Nescafe I have read that they basically get it for free as part of the contract. Don't know if it is true, but I read it on the internet so it must be. ;)

Disney coffee is terrible. :headache: Please bring your own! :thumbsup2

The best cup of coffee I've ever had was the pressed pot at Boma's. If you are a coffee lover, you will love this.
