Disney Club ending after 2003

Just got my Disney Club news in the mail and it says that the Club is done. Does anyone know why? Are they also discontinueing the Disney Magazine?

They are replacing the Disney Club with a Disney Credit card that offers points good for discounts. They claim it offers more value, but I don't know anyone who beleives it.

In Disney's mind the DC is not generating guest loyalty as it may have in the past. It is not generating the income necessary to justify its continuation. A decision by the bean-counters to head in a different direction that they expect will generate more revenue for the parks. Bottom line is always "show me the $!"

This is just another way for the company to tarnish Walts legacy by stopping a program he started(was initailly magic kingdom club) and to reduce the benefits they offer the most loyal of customers. Great way to run a business and not surprising the stcok has been going downhill with management that makes decisions like this.
