Disney Club discount question

I noticed after I booked WL through Disney Club that my membership expires this month. I don't really need a DC membership any longer now that TDS has changed so much. Do you think I need to renew my membership just so I have a card when I check in?

I do believe that I have been asked to show my DC card at check in before.

You are definitely asked to see the card when you check in. If you want to keep the discount, you have to have a valid card..
