I'm debating on whether or not to join DIsney Club. I can join for $29.95 US, but wondering if there are any good savings to be had...
I already have the $49/night rate at ASMu
I have a National Car rental for a week $154.40 USD all taxes and surcharges.
I called Disney Store in Toronto and was told that for the 7 day hopper plus, there is about a $23 savings per ticket.
I don't think I can do much better on car or hotel, and the ticket savings for two of us just about break even on the Club fee. Have others found any additional value with the DC card?

If you shop at the Disney Store (anywhere including Canada and some stores in WDW), you get a 10% discount on most merchandise. We saved a lot on our first trip to WDW and I use mine in the Toronto store. Also, you get the Disney Magazine (4 issues a year). I find there are more deals for Disneyland, but it still pays for itself. We used it for the resort discount last year, so that was a bonus.

You receive discounts at Rainforest Cafe (food & merchandise) if you're going to Animal Kingdom!

The Disney Card saves you money on your National Car rental. I have a one week rental with National in Aug. for 126.41 (all taxes and surcharges included). The disney card saved me over $41 U.S.

with the Disney card, because you are Canadian, they charge an extra $20 - haven't figured out why. So the price of the card is $29 + $20. Nice huh?? I find that the codes you can get off of Mary Wearings (sp???) is actually better than the discounts you can get with the card. We got several good discounts, but I never knew about other codes. I think if you don't have the time to do your homework, the card is great. But, that is just my opinion.

I know that the brochure states that foreign orders add $20, but when I was talking to a DC agent on the phone, they said that for Canadians, it was just $29 USD. Jo

I joined Disney Club (then Magic Kingdom club) in Aug. so... the extra $20 didn't apply...
I thought they had stopped doing that... don't know for sure.. but I thought I had read it on a member post here..
maybe someone could clarify.. i'd like to know too!!

I've had the card and have never yet booked a room with it. There are better deals to be had than what the card offers. I've enjoyed the magezine and the we've certainly got our money's worth in Disney store discounts, but the discounts at the parks on food just aren't there any more and the Disney store looks more like the little kids section of Walmart. Our kids are too big for what's there so we didn't renew the card when it came up this month.

We've also got the $49 ASMu in August and our tickets already so we'll be travelling cardless.

Good Luck making your decision.

Tori

And I know that I was supposed to get the reimbursement of the $20, but I don't know if I ever got it, to tell you the truth. I know they are not supposed to charge the $20 extra any more, but I wonder if they still are in error. But, I still think that if you do look around and use the codes found on Mary's board, that the discounts are better without the card. I do have to agree with Tori about the discounts on food. Unless you plan on eating at PH of RC, the discounts are not worth it.

Hey Joanne!

Thanks for your info too! Can you tell me how you got ASMu for $49.00 night?

I am planning on going next May and would really love to know how I can save some $$$. I have purchased the Disney Club card for the past 4 years and have yet to use it for room discounts.

Thanks - any advice is certainly appreciated!

piglets

having a disney day............

I would really like to know how you got the all stars for 49.00 as well. Also why was there a savings on the tickets at the Disney strore?

if you visit the budget board...
look for the thread on Mary Waring...
she has a great site that lists all of the various discount codes/offers...
she does a really great job!

I think Mary's site is Mousesavers.com. Also, on the REsorts page, at the beginning of the questions, there is a message on URL for Discounts and an autolink from there. I called 3 weeks ago and was able to get the $49. rate from 9/30-10/4.

The Disney Store quoted me (tax incl in Cdn $)
5 day Hopper Plus $380 Ad; $303 Child
5 day Hopper Plus with DC discount: $361/289
7 day Hopper Plus $472 Ad; $380 Child
7 day Hopper Plus with DC discount $447/358

Hope this helps. Jo-Anne
