Disney Closes its doors on last Thursday

Just spotted this news article when watching the video about the dreadful tornado's in central Florida

Apparantly Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom had to be closed and MGM's parking lot was full to capacity and people had to park at Epcot - I hate to think what the wait time for the rides must have been like!!!!

Unfortunately, this isn't uncommon at Disney at Christmas. Both AK and MGM do fill up quickly during the busiest periods and, if you're not there by opening time, it is often not worth trying. Epcot is the park which handles crowds best and is usually the best bet on the busiest days.

we drove passed the signs saying MK and AK were full, had friends in Magic Kingdom that morning- they left about 11 as it was "uncomfortable" they were told that there were 72,000 in Magic Kingdom alone!!!

Sadly we are now back in wet and miserable Chorley, after 3 great weeks!

We left MGM at about 12.45pm today after getting there at 7.45am and it was pleasant to start with but was very very busy when we left.

It's been very, very busy the last few days....

some random-wait times that have been reported by various posters over the last few days:

Joruney into Imagination w/ Figment: 40 minutes
It's Tough to be a Bug: 60 minutes
Twilight Zone Tower of Terror: 90 minutes
Rock'n'Roller Coaster: 110 minutes
Kiliminjaro Safaries: 160 minutes (line started on Discovery Island)
Expedition Everest: 180 minutes (line started in Dinoland)
Soarin': 210 minutes.

Tomorrow is going to be insane!

We went to MGM Thurs 27th around 2.30pm, and it was very packed, we had gathered MK was shut but didn't know AK was too....but we still did things, and saw Fantasmic (never queued 1 hr 15 before but we did get central seats.) we did several shows etc making sure wait times were 20-30 mins max, just miss out the biggies.

Conversely we were in MK on boxing Day around 2pm and it was crowded but nowhere near as bad, saw all the shows, parades and fireworks and waited 10 mins and 5 mins for Big Thunder and Splash in the evening, the former was luck due to being there after a breakdown, the latter the jets were off so we didn't get wet, but that was a tip off from fellow guests in the BTMR queue, not many people go on when it's cold!

Just got back this morning. Had a fantastic time,the weather was brilliant and in Epcot on NYE they were waiting 250 mins to get on soarin or a fast pass time of 12hrs. We got there at 9am and left at 00.15 on the 1st jan. Although it was filled to capacity the atmosphere was great and we had a brilliant time. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Donny Osmond was at the AK one day last week but i can't think which day. Maybe a reason for it being busy. We were there on the 27th but it did not seem to be too crowded.

Just thought I'd add Memorial Day was as bad, with the Q for Soarin at 250 mins! learnt our lesson and will stay away from the parks on the "Big" days.

It wasn't just confined to the 'big' parks we were in Seaworld on 29th December and when we left we were surprised to find all entrances blocked and signs up to say that it was closed as it had reached capacity. It didn't feel that busy and we saw all we wanted to early on in the day but having said that the shows were reaching capacity well before start times and we heard several tannoy announcements later on during the day informing people when shows were full and giving the next available show times to save people being turned away. I'm not sure we would go in the Christmas/New Year period again

I feel sorry for the people in there having to wait so long for the rides. Hope it's going to be calm in a couple of weeks!
